Once again, North Shore Bank was the presenting sponsor of the Green Bay Gamblers’ Caps for Cancer game, held this year on Oct. 22.
At the annual event, the hockey team asks its fans to bring new hats to the game and throw them onto the ice when the Gamblers score their first goal. The caps are then donated to Heavenly Hats, a Green Bay nonprofit that sends them to cancer patients all over the country.
At this year’s game against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, we helped collect 2,872 hats. Since it started in 2005, the Caps for Cancer event has collected more than 15,000 hats. North Shore Bank has been the presenting sponsor of the games since 2008.
Traditionally, the Gamblers also have their heads shaved each year before the game, as a sign of solidarity with cancer patients. District Manager Tricia Cravillion helped stylists from SportClips shave the players’ heads this year.
