Sussex braves heat for Fourth fun, helps out with Lions Daze

Families and friends marched in the village of Sussex’s parade on July 4.

Our Sussex branch helped the village celebrate American independence on July 4. North Shore Bank sponsored festivities there including the kiddie parade and fireworks. We handed out 3-D fireworks glasses after the parade, and Branch Manager Candy Walecki did double duty, serving ice cream with the local Lionesses club, too. It was a hot day for so many kids to be out and about, and three children needed ice packs, but everybody was OK.

Paul Walecki (Candy’s husband), Irma Lucas (Candy’s cousin), Gary Teweles, April Gorzalski and Sussex CSR Erika Smith came out to help at the Lions Daze parade. Gary and April are friends of Erika’s who volunteered. Paul drove his truck in the parade.

Sussex staff also appeared in the village Lions Club’s Lions Daze parade on July 14. Employees and their family and friends passed out beads and Tootsie Rolls for kids, and Candy — recently elected president of the Lionesses — rode on the Lions’ float.
