Many students will be heading back to class with brand-new supplies, thanks to collections held by many of our branches.
In the northeast region, the Back-to-School Store, operated by the Service League of Green Bay, invited sponsors to support its efforts, including health professionals who provide dental and vision screening.
In addition to pens, pencils, notebooks, glue and other classroom needs, donations included backpacks, gym shoes, new clothing — and even toothpaste.
“We wanted to do something for our communities’ children, and we are proud to support this back-to-school collection,” says District Manager Kerri Collins.
Ashwaubenon, Howard, Allouez and our two Green Bay offices accepted supplies through July 27.
The Pulaski Back-to-School store started the year off right with help from our staff and customers. Through our school supply collection, which ran through Aug. 10, needy students received supplies including pencils, paint sets and hygiene products.
In the Fox Cities, our Menasha and Northland offices collected supplies to support the Appleton Area School District through Aug. 15. The collection helped stock the shelves for the school district to supplement students who could not afford to purchase supplies.
In New Berlin, North Shore Bank teamed up with 99.1 The Mix on Aug. 14 for the Stuff for Students Campaign. With their on-air promotion, we worked to fill a Lamers bus with much-needed school supplies. Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin distributed those supplies to needy and at-risk youth.
In Racine County, the Burlington and Union Grove offices gave collected supplies to Love Inc., which helps kids in Western Racine County start the school year with the supplies they need. The collection ran through Sept. 7.
And on Sept. 7, our Corporate office and Brookfield Square branch held a “Pack the Bus” and “Back the Pack” fundraiser and collection to support the Salvation Army’s school supply collection effort. Employees there — who also got to enjoy a casual day, wearing jeans and Green Bay Packers or other NFL shirts — donated items such as notebooks, binders, folders, pens, pencils, glue, scissors, markers and crayons. They also got doughnuts from partner Krispy Kreme to kick off the workday. The corporate building collected five stuffed boxes of school supplies and $282 in cash donations. Thanks go to the Corporate Community Outreach Committee for organizing the event — and to employees at every branch who donated or helped with the supply collections.
