Recommended reading: Dean Koontz and George Orwell

Milwaukee Capitol Branch Manager and AVP Carol Herrmann offers a chilling reading suggestion:

My favorite book is Intensity, by Dean Koontz, because, well, it is so intense. It is not unbelievable like so much of his writing; rather, the story — about a serial killer breaking into a home — could actually happen. Just as you experience relief for one of the characters in this book, the tension of her situation starts building all over again. I lent the book to (Operations Channel Manager) Lyneen Fischer, who could not finish it because it was too frightening. Do not read it unless you enjoy a good scare!

And Shorewood BOC David Holada turns to a scathing literary classic:

Animal Farm, by George Orwell, is a chilling novel that works as both a brilliant allegory of the Russian revolution and a fable of idealism and the corrupting influence of power. In it, a group of farm animals liberate themselves from the cruel reign of a farmer, with hopes of freedom — only to find themselves under the yoke of new masters. The book stands as a condemnation of the Stalinist regime of the time of its publication, as well as a denunciation of those who would stand by and let their freedom be taken from them, no matter what the era.
