McHenry CSR Vicky Blasy has had consistent success with this suggestion:
I highly recommend the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon — time travel, mystery, adventure and romance. They are books you cannot put down. I don’t have a specific favorite, as each book in the series is unique and different. I have recommended the novels to many people and I have received many responses along the lines of “OMG! This series is fabulous!”
And Marketing Coordinator Mary Ott goes back in time, too — but for some more real-life history:
Sarah’s Key, by Tatiana de Rosnay, is an amazing book that tells the story of one Jewish family’s experience when the Nazis took over Paris. The tale is told through the eyes of a journalist writing about the 60th anniversary of the takeover. As the journalist learns more about the horrific events, she discovers she has a connection to the Jewish family and re-evaluates how she’s living her life.

So, can I borrow that Vicki?
Loved both of these titles. The Outlander series in particular has been a reader favorite for nearly 20 years. It is not just a romance. It is a novel of history, relationships, and time. Both books are terrifically accessible.
