Much-loved Kenosha Teller Supervisor Jamie Abbott passed away last week at age 37 after a long battle with illness.

Jamie joined North Shore Bank in May 2001 and worked with us until taking medical leave last August. He was a beloved and valued member of our team whose presence improved the lives of co-workers and customers. His family and friends celebrated his life at a funeral service on Monday.

North Shore Bank has set up a Jamie Abbott Memorial Fund in his honor. We will pass along any collected funds to his family, who can use them to honor him by making a donation to a charity or planting a tree in his name. Here is some more information from Jamie’s family about his life and the impact he made on the lives of those around him:

James “Jamie” Robert Abbott, age 37, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 10, 2013, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, with his family at his side following a courageous struggle with pulmonary hypertension due to a lifetime battle with a diaphragmatic hernia.

Jamie was born in Racine on Sept. 9, 1975. A 1994 graduate of Washington Park High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin–Parkside. After that, he enjoyed his career as a well-respected customer service specialist at North Shore Bank in Kenosha.

Born with a terminal diagnosis and not expected to survive long, Jamie was an inspiring warrior in the fight for his life — always a real “trooper,” overcoming countless surgeries and procedures. Although his life on earth was shorter than most, he truly “lived” more than many people ever will, and always with his head held high. Above all, Jamie had a great appreciation for his family and cherished the times he spent with them.

He is survived by his parents, Marlene and Dave Jensen; brother, Jason (Jamie) Abbott; stepsister, Theresa (Pat) Jordan; niece and goddaughter, Allison Lorraine Abbott; beloved grandmother, Alyce Gavin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, customers and friends too numerous to mention by name.

Jamie was preceded in death by his father, Daniel T. Abbott; and grandparents, Clair Gavin and George and Margaret Jensen.

Jamie will be interred in West Lawn Memorial Park. Those who wish to honor his memory may consider donating to CHERUBS (the Association of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Research, Awareness and Support) or to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
