Lisa Brooks shows off the beautiful chair she painted for the town of Union Grove’s “Take a Seat on Main” downtown promotion.

Hey, this is really cool! Union Grove Branch Manager — and sometime artiste — Lisa Brooks painted a chair for the town’s first-ever “Take a Seat on Main” summer event.

North Shore Bank and other participating businesses on Union Grove’s Main Street are decorating the cedar chairs — which were handmade by another local business — and putting them on display throughout the season, to help beautify the downtown. At the end of summer, the chairs will be auctioned off.

Lisa gave ours an appropriate nautical theme, with lighthouses on the seat and arms, a map of the Lake Michigan shoreline on each arm, and a sunset and flock of “North Shore seagulls” on the backrest. Check out another view:
