Summer memories: Old traditions and new experiences

Some more summer plans, memories and traditions from readers:

Green Bay West Teller Noelle DeWitt says, “I am from Crandon, so my favorite thing to do is to go to the Brush Run races held twice in the summer there. The Brush Run is where race fans watch the best off-road racers from all over the U.S. compete on the best dirt track ever! Crandon may be small, but both the Brush Run events and the track are huge! Usually, about 40,000 people show up for the Labor Day weekend races. My cousins and a bunch of other family members go along with me every year. I just can’t wait to sit out in the sun and cheer on my favorite racers!”

On the other side of the city, Green Bay East Teller Jill Conklin is excited about trying something brand-new. “My favorite summer time activity is going to be our family vacation to Colorado in August,” she says. “My daughter, grandchildren and I are driving out to my brother’s place near Colorado Springs. We have decided on several sights we want to see and will be out there for seven days. We have never been to Colorado, and spending time with my brother and his family will be a quality experience.”

Milwaukee Capitol Branch Manager and AVP Carol Herrmann says: “One of the things I enjoy most about summer is the more frequent use of our cottage in northern Wisconsin. A warm summer day is tailor-made for drifting around on Lake Poygan or the Wolf River in our pontoon boat. While I read (or nap), my husband fishes. We were once surprised by a bald eagle swooping down right in front of the boat to snatch up an unfortunate fish! When the sun is setting, there’s no better place to watch it than from the porch of our summer paradise home!”

And Wellness Coordinator Lynn Jack has a reminder for everyone: “Of course — Six Flags Great America!  Watch for employee discount tickets sales soon!”
