Break out your crimson and scarlet for Wear Red Day next Friday

North Shore Shape Up announces a bankwide Wear Red Day on Feb. 7 to help raise awareness of women’s heart disease.

Next Friday will mark the 10th annual National Wear Red Day, organized by the American Heart Association. The day started in 2003, after researchers discovered that heart disease not only killed more women than any other cause of death, but also killed more women than men. Since then, on the first Friday of every February, women and men all over the country have worn red to call attention to this problem and to motivate others to donate funds to fight heart disease.

Bank employees are encouraged to wear red on Feb. 7 and to take photos of their outfits, to be featured in a future issue of Shorelines. So please: Put on your best red outfit, make sure you have your picture taken, and send it to shorelines@northshorebank.com. You can also give money to the American Heart Association at https://www.goredforwomen.org/wearredday/donate/ and email Wellness Coordinator Lynn Jack at ljack@northshorebank.com for more information about Wear Red Day and how you can help improve your own heart health and others’.
