Beloved East office icon Nancy LeClaire retires this month
“The smile that greets both customers and employees” — as one colleague put it — is saying good-bye to the banking life on August 22. Nancy LeClaire has welcomed multiple generations of customers to North Shore Bank, and now she’s looking forward to enjoying the sun in Florida and the company of her family, including six grandkids! Please read this lovely profile and wish Nancy a wonderful next chapter.

Around the Bank
• Weight Watchers open house tomorrow. On Friday there will be a Weight Watchers At Work open house at Corporate in the third-floor presentation room, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Our Weight Watchers leader Susie Horter talked to Shorelines about her experience with the program and how members can get the most out of it. Employees who are not at Corporate can also sign up for the program and get all the benefits while attending sessions in their own towns. “Come for the open house and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised,” says Susie.

• Paw & Claws at Mequon. The branch held an event to support the Ozaukee Humane Society on August 8. Visitors got a free hot dog lunch, and their pets could get free pedicures from Feed Bag Pet Supply. Pets also got to bob for hot dogs, and visitors could donate to the Humane Society.  “I want to say we had like 25 dogs show up! It was really successful,” reports Branch Manager Michele Padovano, who had put on a similar event when she was at our Shorewood branch. “The weather was beautiful, too, which helped.)

• PACC golf outing. Our branch there sponsored the annual Pulaski Area Chamber of Commerce golf outing on August 5. The outing took place at Crystal Springs golf course, and players had the chance to win $5,000 with a hole-in-one or $100 in the putting contest. Branch Manager Mistine Thomson reports that the event was, as usual, well attended by local business owners.

• Sign up for Corporate blood drive. BloodCenter of Wisconsin will hold a blood drive at Corporate on Monday, August 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Go to www.bcw.edu/northshorebank to sign up for a slot to donate blood.

Service Anniversaries This Week
VP–Investment Program Services Dennis Christoffel marks 35 years with the bank on August 20. “I remember my first day at North Shore Savings and Loan. Was that just yesterday … or was it last week?” he jokes. We’ll have a short profile on Dennis in next week’s posting.

As proven in our Customer Pulse Surveys, you are the heartbeat of the bank’s success. Here’s a sampling of what customers have to say about banking with us.

“Reps are always friendly and knowledgeable. They are ready to answer questions and provide insight into the question given. Many reps know me by name and I am greeted as such. A nice atmosphere for doing business with them.”

“The staff at the New Berlin location is great. They are always very friendly, and take care of customers quickly and correctly.”

North Shore Shape Up: Focus of the Month — Friendship
National Friendship Day is the first Sunday in August. So, what is friendship? In a metaphorical sense, friendship is “home,” a haven from all of the requirements and pressures of life. Friendship is also medicine, and there are steps you can take to help you connect with others and make friends. Log on to http://www.aurora.org/eap, click on the Focus of the Month, and learn more about how important friendships are in our lives. To see the information, select “Employee” in the box on the left side of the Aurora page and enter the user name northshorebank. Then click on “Current issue” under “Focus of the Month.” You can also call your Aurora Employee Assistance Program at 800-236-3231 to speak directly with an EAP professional.
