The totals are in! And our 2015 Free Community Shredding Day events took in more than 80,901 pounds of materials to be safely and securely destroyed and disposed of. That comes out to 40.45 tons.

To put that into perspective, here are some fun facts. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, recycling one ton of paper:

• Saves enough energy to power the average American home for six months

• Saves 7,000 gallons of water

• Saves 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space

Many thanks to everyone who helped out on our Shredding Days on May 2 and May 9! You made a difference to our communities and to the larger world.
