Around the Bank

Happy Fourth of July! “It’s such a nice treat not to work Saturday!” reported McHenry Teller Supervisor Dawn Conley, above center, who with ABMS Becky Braun and Teller Tracy Holden helped create a tapestry of red, white, and blue outfits on Friday to kick off a patriotic weekend.

Lunchtime learning: On June 24, SVP Mike Kellman led a brown-bag session for members of the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors to help them better understand new regulations.

Concert at Regency: Tomorrow, Racine native Cynthia Chitko will perform at our Regency branch from 1 to 4pm, to celebrate the release of her new album, Days Gone By Remembered. The album will be available at the release party and through July 31 at all of our Racine County branches. Chitko will also be around to sign copies after she plays. The concert doubles as a fundraiser for the Spectrum School of the Arts and Gallery; customers who open a new checking account this month will earn $50 for themselves and $50 for the school.

Promotions

North Shore Bank and Illinois State Bank are known for their practice of promoting from within. The following people were promoted in June. You can congratulate them in the comments.

Suanne Twieg, Lending QC Team Leader

Service Anniversaries

You can congratulate your coworkers on their anniversaries in the comments.

“I am proud to have been with NSB for 5 years so far,” says Customer Assistance Representative Krista Strom. “Time really flies when you work in the best department ever — my opinion, of course. I love the working environment — my co-workers, my wonderful supervisors and managers, and the flexibility here that not many organizations offer. It feels like I am part of one big family.”

Kudos

Here are some of the great comments we’ve heard from our customers. Thanks for making this the Bank of You!

“The staff at the Grafton branch are wonderful! The location is so convenient.”

“The employees at my location are a big help. They all have helped me in many ways, from managing my money to setting up a new account and getting online to use it.”

“Whenever I do my banking at the Union Grove branch, I get sincere, fast, very good service.”

North Shore Shape Up

Three steps to a healthier fridge: Do you find yourself dining out too often? Going out to eat or getting takeout is convenient, but restaurant food is often not as nutritious as meals prepared at home, and tends to be higher in empty calories. If you have trouble eating in, try these three tips from MindBodyGreen to keep your refrigerator stocked with better options:

  1. Keep healthy foods in plain sight. Don’t tuck away fruits and veggies in the crisper — you’ll forget about them. Keep good foods in clear containers on shelves near the front of the fridge.
  2. Stock your fridge with quick, healthy options. Keeping options like carrot or jicama sticks prepped and close at hand will make it easier to resist the temptation to tear open a bag of chips.
  3. Cook once, eat twice. When you’re cooking, make some extra. Then pack and store it in the fridge immediately, so that you’re not tempted to eat it till later.
