Around the Bank
Congressman visits Corporate: On Feb 5, Rep. Sean Duffy of Wisconsin’s 7th District stopped by Brookfield Square to meet with North Shore Bank department managers. As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, Duffy wields considerable influence on issues that directly affect the banking industry. He listened to managers’ concerns about issues such as the current regulatory climate, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, credit unions, and GSEs. After the meeting, Duffy visited our call center and interactive video teller area.
“It was a great opportunity for our managers to engage directly with such an important policymaker,” President and COO Jay McKenna said. “It was also educational for us to hear a bit of what goes on behind the scenes in Washington. I truly appreciate how Congressman Duffy welcomes opportunities to meet with bankers in an open-minded way and hear about issues we face on a daily basis. I also think he was quite impressed with our use of technology.”
Crazy Sock Day: During the run-up to the big game, Corporate held a “Super Bowl Sock It to ’Em Drive,” which challenged employees to help collect at least 150 pairs of socks for people in need. Donations of socks and cash (as well as hats, scarves, and other winter gear) went to Capuchin Community Services. And on Feb 5, the Customer Support Center celebrated by showing off their craziest socks and then voting on whose were best. Customer Support Specialist Kathy Johnson won with her fabulous Superman socks.

North Shore Shape Up
Screenings point to need for better diet, more exercise: Each year, North Shore Bank employees are encouraged to participate in biometric screenings and health risk assessments, which measure things like blood pressure, body mass index, blood glucose level, and cholesterol. So, how are we doing? Based on the results of the screenings, only 52 percent of screened employees are in good health (or at low risk for health issues), while 10 percent of us are at a high risk for serious health issues.
