Survey: Please share your thoughts to improve Shorelines
With Shorelines, our goal is to inform and entertain North Shore Bank employees, and hopefully to make you feel more connected to your colleagues in other offices. The short survey posted last week is an attempt to gauge how well we’re succeeding, and to figure out how we could improve. If you didn’t take it last week, please do so now!

Other winners included Bayshore PB Karen Alvarado, Kenosha Central Branch Manager Robin Callis, and Southwest PB James Gottemoller, who each won a $100 Visa gift card; and first-place winner Hilary Izzard, PB at Allouez, who won a Samsung tablet. Congratulations to all of the winners on their prizes and great work. —Submitted by AVP Michael Ebbensgard
Sussex recognized: Last month, the Village of Sussex recognized North Shore Bank with a proclamation thanking our branch there for its support of the town’s annual Fourth of July festivities, in particular the kids’ parade and fireworks display. We have been the joint sponsor of the holiday event for several years, after another village had to back out, and our participation has enabled the festivities to go on without cuts.
“The parade is huge!” says Branch Manager Candy Walecki, who attends each year. “It’s anywhere from 500-plus kids, parents, and grandparents walking or riding the mile on their decorated bikes, wagons, Big Wheels, etc. We provide bike decorating kits a few weeks before the parade, so that kids can decorate their bikes. At the end, the Sussex Parks and Recreation Department has games and ice cream, and I hand out fireworks glasses for anyone who would like a pair. The fireworks take place at dusk at the Village Park. Since North Shore Bank is one of the big sponsors, they do recognize us over the loudspeaker before the fireworks.”
North Shore Shape Up
Wonderful walnuts: Walnuts are an excellent source of alpha-linolenic acid, which is important for your heart and bones, and may also reduce your risk of diabetes and cancer. A recent study found that just two ounces of walnuts a day could improve blood vessel function and reduce “bad” cholesterol. Get more of them into your diet by adding crushed walnuts to your yogurt or cereal, blending them in a smoothie, or topping salads with them.
