Happy birthday, pardner: Last month, ABMO Erika Smith celebrated her 25th birthday with a trip to the Crazy Mountain Ranch in Clyde Park, Montana. And when she got back to work, her coworkers at the Sussex branch surprised her by becoming cowgirls themselves for an afternoon. “They dressed exactly how people did on the ranch!” said Erika, who won the trip at Red Rock Saloon in Milwaukee. At the ranch, she and her best friend snowboarded and practiced archery, dog-sledded, and rode snowmobiles and zip lines. “The trip was definitely one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life!” she said. “It was actually my first trip on a plane.” Of her birthday surprise, Erika added: “My coworkers went way above and beyond for me with this, and I am extremely grateful.”

Bayshore: Our Bayshore branch serves a somewhat unusual community: the Bayshore Town Center mall in Glendale, where the branch is located. Many of the shopping center’s retailers are North Shore Bank customers, and they’re often in and out of the branch multiple times a day, says Branch Manager Gloria Rosenberg. “One older gentleman remembers the building of the original branch on Oakland and Lake Bluff,” Gloria says. “He was an existing customer at that time! He talks about attending the annual meeting where attendees were served popcorn and beer.” Besides the four employees on site at Bayshore, the branch is also staffed by a rotation of video tellers working out of Corporate. North Shore Shape Up

Do you have a winning recipe? The North Shore Bank Healthy Cooking Contest is running through March 17. You’re all invited to prepare your tastiest healthy recipe for your coworkers, and then your branch or department will vote for their favorite. Winning recipes will be submitted for a bankwide Healthy Cook-Off cookbook. Complete rules here. Bon appétit!

160303_colonribbonWear dark blue tomorrow: Friday, March 4 is Colon Cancer Awareness Day, and we are asking everyone to wear dark blue to help promote awareness of the disease. Colon cancer is the third-most common cancer in the United States and the second leading cause of cancer death. But it is very preventable with regular screenings. If you are between 50 and 75, get screened for colorectal cancer regularly.
