Sturgeon Bay’s Clessie Blasier retiring
Retiring Teller Clessie Blasier has some simple advice for newcomers to the banking world: “Smile and greet your customer, use a soft voice, and listen to what they say,” she says. “Show the customer that you care for them like family!”

Clessie will retire from Sturgeon Bay East on July 8, after 21 years with North Shore Bank. She credits her co-workers old and new with helping her learn those principles herself and practice them every day in the office. Becky Kolstad marks 35 years of helping
When asked what she’d do differently, if she could change anything about her career here, Sturgeon Bay Branch Manager Becky Kolstad keeps her answer simple and to the point. “Nothing,” she says. “I enjoy helping customers and making them feel financially secure, and I like helping my employees succeed. Timber Rattlers cap giveaway hits a home run

North Shore Bank employees handed out hats before the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers game in Appleton on June 23. The first 1,000 fans to show up received free T-Rats ball caps. After their duties were done, employees settled down to enjoy the game. The Timber Rattlers bested the Quad Cities River Bandits, 2-0. •••

WMBA installs Kellman as president

The Wisconsin Mortgage Bankers Association installed North Shore Bank Senior Vice President Mike Kellman as the organization’s president for 2016-2017 on June 16 at the Marriott Hotel in Pewaukee.

“It is a great honor to represent North Shore Bank, the entire state of Wisconsin, and the 1,100 members of the Wisconsin Mortgage Bankers Association,” Mike said when asked about his new role. “The WMBA is the only statewide organization dedicated to representing the residential real-estate finance industry and exists to strengthen the mortgage lending industry in Wisconsin through education, networking, and political activism among all stakeholders in the process.” Congratulations, Mike! •••

Allouez celebrates Take Your Dog to Work Day

In celebrations of Take Your Dog to Work Day, on June 24, Allouez Teller Olivia Vechart brought her new puppy Charlotte in to the branch for a visit.

“She absolutely loved all of the attention — and treats — she got from everyone at the bank,” Olivia reports. Charlotte is an 8-week-old Australian cattle dog. She came from a breeder in Loyal, Wisconsin.

“Now that I have a puppy, I believe all the people who told me, ‘Puppies are very cute, but it is exactly like having a baby!’” Olivia says. “Potty training has been quite the challenge, but needless to say, I’m very excited to watch her grow!” •••

New Hires for June 30
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.

Brookfield Square Teller Chellie Beaudot is from Milwaukee and has lived in Greenfield for 17 years. Before joining our team, she did administrative work and taught classes at a martial arts school. In fact, she says, “I am a second-degree black belt in tae kwon do, working toward my third degree.” Now you know whom not to mess with!

Traveling Teller Bionka Finner is from Milwaukee and previously worked at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. She has 8-month-old twin boys. “I can’t imagine my life without them!” she says. “I have to say, I thought taking care of two at once was going to be a lot harder than it has been.”

Kate Madderom is a Debit Card/Network/Processing Specialist in the CSC. She was born and raised in Cudahy and now lives in Milwaukee with her firefighter husband and two teenage boys. She was previously an AVP and Deposit Services Manager at Guaranty Bank. “I enjoy fishing,” Kate says. “I will go the distance to catch a good fish — including jumping into a lake to catch one with a plastic grocery bag! (We forgot the net!)”

Bayshore Universal Banker Kenya Owens is from Milwaukee and is studying business and finance at Alverno College. “I love singing,” she says, “even if my voice isn’t the best.”

“I am currently living in Sturgeon Bay, but I grew up in Wauwatosa, not too far from our headquarters,” says Sturgeon Bay Teller Liane Quakkelaar. “I was working full time at Walmart, but decided to go part time there to take a part-time position here. I love chocolate!”

And Sturgeon Bay Teller Courtney Topper is from the small town of Stephenson in upper Michigan, about 20 miles north of the Wisconsin border. She previously worked at Cabela’s and plans to start school this fall at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Sturgeon Bay. Courtney is a supply specialist enlisted in the Army National Guard. “I also have a passion for dancing,” she says. •••

Tagatz welcomes granddaughter

Lake in the Hills Assistant Branch Manager Sue Tagatz and family welcomed her new granddaughter, Lucy, earlier this month. “Big brother Jack, who is 2, is so proud,” Sue says. “‘Mimi’ and ‘Boppa’ Tagatz are loving every moment.” Congratulations, Sue! •••

White bowls perfect 300, hits hole in one

Investment Consultant Dennis White has been quite the athlete over the last few months, having bowled a perfect 300 in December and then getting a hole in one on the golf course this month.

“The 300 game was bowled at Sunset Bowl in Waukesha on December 9, and the hole in one was recorded at the Legend at Merrill Hills on June 2,” Dennis reports. It was a 180-yard hole. “I hit my hybrid club.”

Both achievements were firsts for Dennis, who bowls once a week during league season, usually averaging 205-210 a game, and who golfs two or three times a week during golf season. His handicap is usually between a 9 and a 10. Read more about Dennis’s athletic achievements here!

North Shore Shape Up: Weight Watchers starts July 10
It’s not too late to join the next session of Weight Watchers At Work! If you are looking to lose 10 pounds or more for the summer, now is the time!

The next 12-week session starts July 10.
