Help Wisconsin’s foster kids, and enjoy Casual Day and ice cream

The Corporate Community Outreach Committee is holding a care drive for foster children through July 29 at Corporate, which will include an ice cream truck social on July 27. All donations from the drive will go to Robyn’s Nest at Children’s Service Society, operating as part of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

“Open your heart”: AVP Jeremy Schmidt talks about adopting two foster children. Read it here.

As many as 100 children are removed from their homes each month because they are not safe. At any given time, 6,000 children are in foster care in Wisconsin. Foster children often can’t take all of their clothes and belongings with them when they move to a new home. Foster parents are frequently asked to take care of children with little advance notice. Here’s how you can help.

Monetary donations: Checks should be made out to Robyn’s Nest. Checks and cash donations can be given to Nancy Hanson at the second-floor reception desk.

Donated items: The following items can be placed in the designated containers in the Café.

  • New backpacks
  • Clean, gently used or new clothing, sizes newborn to teen
  • New underwear, socks, slippers
  • Disposable diapers in all sizes and wipes (unopened)
  • Formula (unopened), bottles, onesies, blankets
  • Toiletries, such as shampoo, baby shampoo, baby lotion, body wash, deodorant, toothbrushes, and toothpaste (unopened)
  • New toys, games, and art supplies
  • New children’s books

Casual Day and Ice Cream Social
By donating $5 or an item from the list above, you can participate in Casual Day and the ice cream social on Wednesday. After making your donation, get a ticket from Nancy Hanson. Then bring your ticket when the Granny’s Treats Ice Cream truck visits the Corporate parking lot from 1 to 2pm. For Casual Day, please remember that jeans should be work suitable — no holes or tears, and no dirty or ill-fitting jeans.
