Share your stories in Shorelines
Did you catch Katie Presser’s great post last week about her first job, working for her dad at his bowling alley in Racine?

Do YOU have a story like it? We hope you do — and we hope you’ll share it with Shorelines.

We’re looking for more posts from our readers, on these topics:

  • My First Job: Tell us about your first experience in the workforce — what was great, what maybe wasn’t, and what you learned that you carry with you today.
  • Community Minded: Do you volunteer, or do you know a colleague who does? We’d love to hear about the good work you do and how your co-workers can get involved, too. Last year, business relationship manager Jeremy Schmidt talked about his experiences as a parent who’s adopted two foster kids. In 2015, loan funding team leader Sarah Gantner and sales and marketing analyst Brent Neumann shared what it’s like to comfort the terminally ill through Heartland Hospice.
  • Travel stories: Visit someplace cool? Let us know! We especially want to see your vacation photos!
  • Favorite recipes: Is there a classic dish you look forward to at holidays, or just something your kids love to eat? Tell us about! We’re always looking for delicious menu items. (If you’re making it soon, take a picture!)
  • Customer service tips: Is there something you’ve learned that’s helped you better serve our clients, both external and internal? We welcome the chance to spread that knowledge through the newsletter.

Shorelines is also always on the lookout for interesting news about employees’ professional achievements, big life events, or interesting accomplishments. (If you’ve got a tip about a co-worker, send it our way. Don’t worry — we won’t publish anything until we clear it with them.)

For more information about any of these topics or contributing to the newsletter, email Josh, the editor, at shorelines@northshorebank.com. We hope to hear from you soon! •••

New Hires for June 1
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.

Traveling teller Sarah DeChambre was born and raised in Sturgeon Bay. (“I opened my first-ever bank account at Branch 42!” she says.) For the last nine years, she worked as a social worker in Milwaukee and Racine counties; she worked with a variety of populations, from children and families, to the elderly, people with mental illness, and younger inmates in prison. Sarah says: “Thirteen years ago, I fell out of a golf cart and got the pleasure of being flown in a Flight for Life helicopter.” She was conscious, but doesn’t remember much beyond not wanting to open her eyes. “I know I rode, though, because I got a ‘free’ T-shirt,” she adds. “I now volunteer my time facilitating support groups for others who have survived traumatic brain injuries.”

Carolyn Lyrenmann is now our area branch manager for the Forest Home and Southridge offices. She is from Muskego and was previously a business banking and branch center manager with PNC Bank. Her 14-year-old son AJ is a regional championship long-track speed skater, and they get to work at the Olympic trials in January 2018. “I started taking him ice skating in February of 2016 at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee,” she says. “He could barely balance, but I think he was really intrigued by all of the speed skating Olympic stats they had posted there, so he started watching videos on You Tube about speed skating. By summer he was begging me for a pair of speed skates.”

Commercial portfolio analyst Taylor Thering is from Spring Green and just graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He was previously an analyst intern at UBS Financial. He once shot hoops with Milwaukee Bucks player Giannis Antetokounmpo. “I have some friends who live in Oak Creek, and we were outside playing basketball at a park near this gym that Giannis goes to by himself to shoot around at,” Taylor explains. “He was walking by, heading to the gym, and stopped and shot hoops with us for about 10 minutes or so.”

Forest Home teller Chyloe Vigil is from Milwaukee and previously worked as a cosmetics consultant at the Boston Store in Southridge. Chyloe says, “I like to do special-effects makeup during the Halloween season.” The most fun makeup job she’s done for somebody was a female Mad Hatter. •••

Callis welcomes new grandson

Burlington branch manager Robin Callis and her family welcomed a new grandson in May. Rhett was born to Robin’s son Kevin and daughter-in-law Tara, and is a little brother to Chase, who made an appearance in Shorelines last March. Congratulations, Robin! •••

North Shore Shape Up: Save on Weight Watchers
Great news! We have reached the middle of our current Weight Watchers At Work Meeting series, and Weight Watchers has another special for employees who want to renew their membership or join as a new member.

The Deal Days discount runs from June 2 to 9. If you renew or join during that window, you will pay only $132.60 for the next 12-week series, which starts in July. That’s a 15 percent discount from the regular price of $156. Payroll deduction is available.

If you sign up or renew after the Deal Days window, you will have to pay the regular full price of $156.

If you are at a branch, you may sign up through the Corporate At Work group and then attend a Weight Watchers meeting site in your area, at your convenience. If you are at Corporate, you may attend a free meeting tomorrow, Friday, June 2, or Friday, June 9, at 11 a.m. in the Lower Level Lounge to learn more. Contact Nancy Hanson at nhanson@northshorebank.com if you are interested or have any questions. •••
