Tyler Schumacher helped set up the bikes that were won by 32 Kids Day attendees.

Around 800 people attended this year’s Kids Day Fox Valley, hosted by our Menasha branch on May 6. Of those 800 attendees, about 425 were kids who registered for a chance to win a bike.

“We raised enough donations from local businesses to cover the cost of 32 bikes, two bounce houses, and other entertainment like the DJ and jugglers and balloon artists,” reported assistant branch manager–operations Jill Heule.

The bikes ranged from 16-inch to 24-inch models for both boys and girls. Entertainment and activities also included a karate demonstration by students from Soto’s Martial Arts Academy, a weather lesson from WFRV meteorologist Jordan Lamers, NewZoo animals to pet, and the Kohl’s Cares “Spriggy” van (with digital games that gave kids a chance to keep Spriggy safe). Kids could also tour a fire truck, ambulance, and police car, and got to meet mascots like McGruff the Crime Dog, Frostbite from the Fox Cities IceDogs, the Menasha High School Blue Jay, and North Shore Bank’s own Seymour Savings. Eight local businesses participated in Kids Day, offering activities and information on kids’ safety and wellness.

Boy Scout Troop 127 held a brat fry, which raised over $700 to help cover the cost of summer camp.

One winner sent a thank-you note.
