In October, we asked employees to participate in the Journal Sentinel’s 2018 Top Workplaces survey. While we can’t announce whether we have been named to the list until early May, I’d like to share some graphs and information about our results. We receive a lot of detailed analysis along with all of the anonymous employee comments, and our Engagement Leadership team uses this information to continue working on ways to ensure we meet our goal of an engaged workplace.
Our overall survey participation was down this year from the last time we participated, for the 2016 survey (69 percent participation versus 81 percent previously), which can impact overall scoring. We hope everyone will want to participate next year.
In taking the survey, employees rate their agreement with a number of statements. These statements fall into one of the four categories (Alignment, Effectiveness, Connection, and My Manager) that make up the determination of Organizational Health (OrgHealth).
In the graphs below, each of the four categories is broken down and comparisons are made both to how we scored the last time we participated (right side of chart), and to an overall benchmark of all participating commercial banks (gray bars). The graphs shared here reflect North Shore Bank as a whole. Leaders of the major departments and districts also receive results specific to their areas, and the Engagement Leadership team works with them to review their results and determine any actions for their areas of responsibility.
As an overall summary, we are happy to see that we scored higher than the commercial banks’ benchmarks in every category. We do recognize there are areas for improvement, and those will be the starting point of our focus over the coming year. As always, we welcome all comments and suggestions, which can be made directly to your manager, to me, or through our EmployeeVoice system.
Thank you to all who participated!
