From HR: Job shadows offer many benefits — here are a few!

By Molly Schissler, SVP, Human Resources & Compliance

I recently reached out to some of our recent job shadow participants to get their thoughts about their experiences with the program. Here is what they shared. Upcoming shadows are listed in KnowledgeBank. Why not sign up for one — or more — today!

Anne Kagerah, branch manager, Sussex
The Deposit Services department supplied me with many resources to help my team work more efficiently. There were samples of documents and packets that we received. We also have a list for the contact person in each area. I really like how they support team players with their paper “high-five” recognitions.

I set an EPC goal to do two shadows by July 1. Both shadows were very valuable, and I very much enjoyed them.

Underwriting: With a new loan system in place, I shared feedback with my manager group. They appreciated learning about a few simple items that would create efficiency for our lenders.

It was also helpful for them to understand that during busy indirect time, Underwriting doesn’t review retail lending on Mondays and Tuesdays. This allows managers to focus on other things, versus checking on DecisionPro updates that will not happen.

Also, Keith Goetter told me that branches kept missing a few screens in DecisionPro. I was able to clarify that branches do not have access to those fields and that they are owned by underwriters.

Deposit Services: I shared feedback with managers from this job shadow, as well. Managers are also aware of how deep the training is.

Deposit Services was so organized and helpful. You can tell each person took strong ownership and pride in making the experience for others exceptional.

As a result of shared information, Anne Kagerah and (Milwaukee Capitol branch manager) Erica Hughes signed up for shadowing! I am glad I could inspire two managers to sign up.

I truly enjoyed my job shadow experience. I did my district manager shadow with Lauri Lunde, and she did a wonderful job, not only covering the material highlighted for the visit, but also providing more information on her day-to-day life as DM. I learned things that I would have never guessed were part of the role. I definitely recommend to anyone in branch to attend.
