Howard class drops off thank-you after Dash for Cash
After the record-breaking Dash for Cash this month, a fourth-grade class at Howard Elementary dropped off a handmade thank-you note at our Howard-Suamico branch, reports universal banker Brittany Gay.
The front of the card reads “Thank you North Shore Bank,” and it contains a message inside: “Mrs. Voight grabbed $322.00!!! We will get new supplies for Maker Space projects!” The students all signed the back of the card. •••
New Hires for January 31
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.
Residential loan specialist Carmen Rivera-Reyes was born in Milwaukee, raised in Puerto Rico, and came back to Wisconsin when she was 11. Her last job was as a mortgage loan processor at Waterstone Mortgage. “I love to drive — not so much in the snow, but long distances,” Carmen says. “Every year I drive to Florida for vacation, and at least one more state just for the drive. If I had to redo my job career, I would probably be a race car driver or truck driver.” •••
North Shore Shape Up: To relax, try belly breathing
Feeling stressed out or anxious? Healthy Mondays suggests you try belly breathing — and it works any day of the week. This technique can relax your entire body and even lower your heart rate and blood pressure. Here’s how to do it:
- Place one hand on your chest and the other on your belly.
- Close your eyes and mouth. Place your awareness on your breath and not on your surroundings.
- Inhale deeply through your nose for a count of four, making sure your diaphragm, or abdomen, is expanding and not your chest.
- Exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of four.
- Continue in this way for a few breaths, or until you feel calm.
As the Monday folks note, “by focusing your thoughts on the sensations of breathing, or even counting your breaths, you also help settle your mind.” Give it a try! •••
