For 20th anniversary, Adamski celebrates 30 years here
While it’s officially her 20th anniversary here, senior ACH specialist Nancy Adamski is really celebrating 30 years with North Shore Bank.

“I started in 1979 as a teller at the Southwest office, worked for 10 years, and then I took 10 years off to raise my children,” she says. “When the kids were all in school, I came back part time in 1999 and eventually full time. And the rest is history! Wow, it’s really flown by.” Read more about Nancy’s career here!

North Shore Bank was among the more than 100 groups in the 69th annual Appleton Flag Day Parade on June 8. Pictured above on our float are Menasha universal banker Wylee Meinhardt, Northland teller Yasmin Hossain, Green Bay East universal banker Kari Tuyls and son Max, Northland teller Kim Balser, Menasha universal banker Ashley White’s sister, Ashley’s daughter Tessa, Ashley’s niece, and Ashley.

Other participants included Appleton personal banker Tisha Kucukaslan and teller Kathleen Veu; Menasha branch manager Deb Cumming and husband Dave; Allouez universal banker Laurel Kocken with her daughter and three grandkids; and Yasmin’s son Shabbir. “This year was also a tribute to the U.S. Marine Corps,” Kathleen noted. “North Shore Bank has been a part of this parade for 29 years, and everyone who helped out enjoyed being in it.” •••

Weber hears students speak in Passages program

Shorewood School District recently invited Shorewood branch manager Shannon Weber to help with its Passages program, in which sixth graders give presentations reflecting on what they’ve learned over the years since kindergarten, as they prepare to enter junior high. Shannon (above, left) and the other members of her group — English teacher Renee Glembin and director of curriculum and instruction Tim Joynt — asked the students follow-up questions and offered feedback on the presentations.

“It was great to see how invested the children were,” she said. “This is an activity they have been working on for years, and you could see how proud they were and their parents were of their growth. I feel very fortunate to have been selected to be a part of this process.” •••

New Hires for June 13
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.

Forest Home teller Shela Grant was born and raised in Milwaukee and previously worked at accounting and bookkeeping firm the Giersch Group. She is wrapping up her bachelor’s degree in finance, with a minor in economics, at UW-Milwaukee, with plans to graduate in December. “I love to travel and will be studying abroad in Asia this summer with my Lubar School of Business, so I’m pretty excited about that,” Shela says. “It will be my first time traveling out of the country and traveling without family.”

Menasha teller Jennifer Isenhower is from Fremont and previously worked at Zales. “I love working on my backyard and gardening — I love flowers, especially lilies of the valley — and I love going fast on boats and jet skis,” she says. “I really love coffee.”

Oak Creek universal banker Julie Rady lives in Mount Pleasant and previously worked at First Bank Financial Centre in Oconomowoc. “I love to dress up in costume with my 7-year-old granddaughter Brooklyn,” she says. “Every year for Halloween, she picks a theme for our costumes. One of my favorite years was when we dressed up as superheroes. We even got her father involved that year and dressed him up as the Joker from Batman!” •••

North Shore Shape Up: Diet may affect anxiety
If you have anxiety, your diet might play a role in it. As Cleveland Clinic Wellness notes:

In a recent review of studies, researchers found that regulating bacteria in the gut may ease anxiety. If that sounds farfetched, consider that the gut houses the enteric nervous system (ENS), a collection of more than 100 million neurons that’s often called the second brain. The ENS communicates back and forth with the primary brain (the one in your head!), and this communication not only controls digestion but is also thought to influence emotions and thinking. We know that a plant-oriented, whole-foods diet with lots of fiber can help to support a healthy balance of bacteria in the gut—and that eating lots of processed food, sugar, and meat (the usual suspects!) can have the opposite effect.

The clinic adds that “probiotic-rich foods that contain good bacteria, like yogurt and sauerkraut, may help, too.” •••
