Grafton Artist of the Month wants to make you smile
For July, the Grafton branch’s Artist of the Month will be UW-Milwaukee’s Tim Decker. Tim has worked in animation for decades, on projects for television, movies, and video games, and for brands including Disney, The Simpsons, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Grafton teller Caroline Holzer, a former animation student of Tim’s, talked to him for Shorelines. See what he had to say!

Redesigned loyalty survey tells familiar, friendly story
Our semiannual loyalty survey was administered April 4-24. Invitations to provide feedback were sent to about half of our customers.

The survey was redesigned entirely from previous surveys. We asked customers to choose up to three from a list of factors that are most important to them in their banking relationship. Friendly people, convenient branches and ATMs, and knowledgeable team members were cited as key factors by our customers. Craig Witz has more about the survey and results here!

On June 15, we recognized employees who have 30 or more years of credited service with North Shore Bank. There are currently 30 employees with this distinction. Combined, they represent over 1,000 years of experience!

Honorees and their guests were invited to a dinner party at Western Racquet Club in Elm Grove that included live music and a brief awards presentation by chairman and CEO Jim McKenna. See more photos here!

Shorewood takes day to promote video tellers

Shorewood enjoyed a Video Teller Awareness Day on June 20, making an extra effort to introduce customers to North Shore Bank’s video tellers.

“We had a table set up in our lobby with information about each of the video tellers to help our customers learn more about them,” branch manager Shannon Weber said. “We also had cookies, and customers could take candy that included their ‘fortunes.’ Each candy had something informational about the video tellers inside.”

New Hires for June 27
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.

Traveling teller Maureen Lim is from Wauwatosa and previously worked as an RN for a healthcare service. “For fun, I enjoy traveling, reading, photography, playing cards with friends, and going on adventures with family, such as cruising, ziplining, hot-air ballooning, and skydiving,” she says. “I told the pilot I was less afraid of jumping out of a plane than I was of my son razzing me if I chickened out!” •••

AVP of marketing communications Kate Knox and husband Brian traveled to China in early April and returned with a new family member — 2½-year-old adopted daughter Emily! Emily and Kate are pictured above.

North Shore Shape Up: 3 summer health myths
Summer is too short around here to let misinformation mess it up! Cleveland Clinic Wellness breaks down the truth about three common summer health myths:

On DEET (the chemical found in insect repellants): “Provided deet is used as directed (don’t spray directly on face or in enclosed areas, don’t apply over cuts or irritated skin, to name a few key precautions ), research shows it’s safe to use.”

On sunscreen: “An SPF between 30 and 50 should be sufficient this season. Note that because of FDA regulations, sunscreen products in the U.S. offer far less protection against cancer-causing UVA than UVB rays, and sunscreens with higher SPF are the least protective against UVA rays.”

And on staying hydrated: “Don’t rely on thirst to remind you to drink—you can become dehydrated even if you’re not feeling thirsty, especially during exercise. If you’re exercising in the heat, drink water or other fluids beforehand, then continue drinking throughout your activity and for several hours afterward. Keep in mind that it’s not just fluids that hydrate; plenty of fruits and vegetables are hydrating, too.”

Now go enjoy the beautiful weather! •••
