Are you more stressed out than you think? Your pooch may be able to help answer that question, Cleveland Clinic Wellness says:
Dogs can mirror their owners’ stress levels, suggests new research. In the study, researchers measured the stress hormone cortisol in a group of dogs and their owners over the course of several months and found that levels tended to be synchronized. The researchers determined that the animals’ stress levels rose in response to their owners’ stress levels, rather than vice-versa.
The clinic notes that the study only looked at border collies and Shetland sheepdogs, and other breeds might respond differently to their owners’ stress. But if your good boy or girl seems to be on edge for no obvious reason, stop and take a look at how you’re feeling yourself.
