The McHenry branch decorated pumpkins for a good cause this month. Employees were given foam pumpkins to doll up however they wished, and then the spookily adorned gourds were put on display for customers to vote on. Each decorator chose a local charity, which would receive a gift card and gift basket if their pumpkin won the most votes.
It was a tight competition among the three entrants, with teller Vicki Blasy creating a ghoulish pumpkin covered in spiders, webs, and ghosts, teller supervisor Dawn Conley submitting a squished witch, and assistant branch manager Mandy Crain going with a pumpkin decorated as a fox.
In the end, the fox prevailed and the $50 gift card and basket of toys and treats will go to McHenry’s Animal Outreach Humane Society.
“The most important part of this,” Mandy said, “was that we had fun, there was healthy competition, and we are giving back to our community all at the same time.”
These pumpkins are fantastic. So creative and well done. :)
