In honor of tomorrow’s holiday, we asked you to share what you were thankful for this year. Here’s what you told us!

This past year has been rather difficult for my husband and me, since our son and daughter-in-law moved to Texas with our only grandchildren. I am extremely thankful that our schedules allow us to travel to Texas several times a year for short visits. They are always very welcoming each time we arrive, and we get to spend alone time with the boys while Mom and Dad go on a “date.” These visits mean the world to us!

As sappy as it sounds, I’m thankful for my coworkers. I’m new and used to retail and a hostile work environment — it’s so nice to work with great people who genuinely care. It really makes a huge impact on your life. I’m so thankful for my branch family.

I’m part of the Root River Rollers roller derby team in Racine. I have personally been competing in the sport for eight years, originally with a team in Hawaii.
I am beyond grateful to the sport and to this group of women in particular. In roller derby you can be yourself completely — the good, the ugly, and everything in between — and these ladies will never stop loving and caring for you. I am thankful for every day I get to skate with my big group of best friends!

I am thankful for so much, but if I must pinpoint it to one thing, it would have to be the friendships I have made here these last almost three years. It’s bittersweet knowing my time at North Shore Bank is coming to an end (when Royal Savings Bank acquires the Lake in the Hills and McHenry branches), but I know I have a great group of friends I can always reach out to and depend on.

While I have many things to be thankful for this year, the highlight was becoming an auntie to a second little munchkin! My nephew, Beckett, was born September 30. Blessed doesn’t come close to describing how fortunate and thankful I am to spend so much time with my two favorite babies!
