After 24 years, Sue Koch says goodbye to Southwest
Southwest teller Sue Koch retires tomorrow, Friday, December 13, after 24 years at the branch. “Yes, I’ve been here the whole time,” she says.

Sue’s banking career started right out of high school at National Savings & Loan, where she worked part time while helping her father with bookkeeping at his business, and then full time once he retired. When her daughter was born, she mostly left the workforce, and then returned to banking when she joined North Shore Bank in 1995.

“I liked the customer interaction more than being in the back where you didn’t talk with customers,” she says. “So when there was an opening here for a teller position, I decided to get back into it.” Read more about Sue’s career — and see the cute kitten who’s going to keep her busy!

Southridge Maker’s Fair draws strong crowd for debut

Jewelry by Made Especially for You by Shelly at the Southridge branch’s Maker’s Fair. Carolyn credits Shelly, the first maker the branch hosted, as the inspiration for the fair.

The Southridge branch held its first-ever Maker’s Fair on November 23, featuring local craftspeople displaying their products and talking to visitors about their offerings.

The fair came about as a result of branch manager Carolyn Lyrenmann challenging her team to find business banking clients that could benefit from exposure at the branch’s Business of the Month table.

“We were able to learn of many talented clients who make wares such as jewelry, woodwork, and crocheted and hand-sewn items,” Carolyn said. “Now, our Business of the Month table is booked out for a year with new businesses, but we wanted to make sure we still celebrated our makers.”

While she doesn’t have a precise count, Carolyn says she can safely estimate that at least 80 people came through the fair. The branch plans to make the Maker’s Fair an annual event. The whole Southridge team helped prepare for the fair, and assistant branch manager Zoran Saric and universal banker Sherita King helped Carolyn the day of the event. •••

Stay safe from holiday scammers with tips from the FTC
Earlier this month, the Federal Trade Commission sent out an alert reminding consumers that along with cheer and goodwill, the holidays bring scammers hoping to separate shoppers from their money.

We’ve reproduced the article to help keep you safe and to help you keep our customers safe! Check it out here! Remember: North Shore Bank gift cards can be picked up at any of our branches with no purchase fee through December 31. They’re safer than buying gift cards off the rack at a retail store and a great way to avoid scams.

Get extra incentives for job referrals through January
Do you know someone who’d be a good fit for North Shore Bank? Our incentives for job candidate referrals just got even better!

Now through the end of January 2020, if you refer a job candidate and they take the position, you will receive two $25 gift cards (we normally offer only one) of your choice for Amazon, Home Depot, Kohl’s, or Olive Garden, on top of the normal bonus of $300-$500 — and we are doubling the bonus ($600-$1,000) if your referral is for our Fox Point or Green Bay locations! And don’t forget: You will then also qualify to be entered into one of our quarterly drawings for a bonus of 125,000 Seymour Salutes points — equal to $500. How sweet is that?

Again: We are particularly looking for job candidates available for our Fox Point and Green Bay locations! These referrals will double the incentive you could earn, from now until the end of January 2020.

Takiesha Haynes takes the reins at Bayshore
New Bayshore branch manager Takiesha Haynes is from Milwaukee and worked for Claire’s before coming to North Shore Bank. “I worked in banking about 10 years ago, and I loved the atmosphere,” she says. So when a friend who worked here talked about how close she was with her “family” of colleagues and how much she enjoyed it, Takiesha decided she wanted to be a part of that too.

She says it can be challenging to precisely define one’s management style, but “I think in general, a good manager gives clear directions and stays ready and available to jump in to offer any guidance, expertise, and help when needed.” As for her personal style, Takiesha notes, “I’m a giver. I feel good when I know I made someone else smile and feel good.” •••

It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.

Brookfield Square personal banker Peg Siebauer grew up in Oshkosh and previously worked for Farmers Insurance. “I love to travel!” she says. “I have been to Europe, China, Mexico, and many of the Caribbean islands. It took friends 10 years to convince us to cruise with them, and found we love it!” •••
