A message from president and COO Jay McKenna: “After a very nice several years of relative calm, certainty, growth, and prosperity, our country has been sent into shock by the current virus outbreak. Financial markets have been roiled, events and travel are being canceled, and people are rightfully feeling very unsettled. First and foremost, I know each of you shares with me our overall concern and sympathy for those individuals and families affected by the virus.

North Shore once again conquers Fight for Air Climb

On March 7, the North Shore Climbers team made it to the top of downtown Milwaukee’s U.S. Bank Center – up 47 flights or a total 1,034 stairs – and raised $2,979 for the American Lung Association and its fight against respiratory diseases. It was a beautiful day for the climb, with clear blue skies over Lake Michigan.
This year’s team included North Shore Bank employees VP business banking Mike Cornell, deposit operations supervisor Kristin Hoch, assistant controller Ann Marie Krecak, and SVP HR/compliance Molly Schissler, along with Molly’s sister, Kit Slawski, and friend Laurie Nelson-Rowe. While Kristin and Mike were not able to make the actual climb this year, their fundraising contributed to our great total raised. •••

SOAR Together award nominations close tomorrow!
Have a colleague who’s done a truly outstanding job of making our customer promises a reality, or who does outstanding work in their community? Recognize them with a nomination for North Shore Bank’s annual SOAR Together awards.

All employees are eligible to win these awards, so nominate someone now! The nomination period will close Friday, March 13. A nominating committee will then review the entries and select one winner for each award. Winners will be announced in April.

Das drops puck at Gamblers game

Mortgage loan originator Sandipa Das dropped the puck at the Green Bay Gamblers hockey game on March 7 against the Stars of Lincoln, Nebraska. It was Heavy Metal Night at the Resch Center, sponsored by North Shore Bank. “I have never done anything like it before, so it was quite an experience to drop the puck and shake each of the captain’s hands. The good part is no hockey skills were required — or skating, for that matter,” Sandipa said. She added: “Bonus: I got to talk with the band who was performing that night.” Rock on! 🤘 •••

Personal banker Matthew Cieslak got dressy with merchant processing rep Harrison Loveall from Elavon and branch mascot Barry the bear. “They were having a little fun while we decorated,” branch manager Stephanie Bluemel said. •••

New Hires for March 12
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.
Commercial real estate portfolio manager Brad Kitt lives in New Berlin with his wife and three children. He previously worked for BMO Harris. “I once hit a home run at Miller Park. We were doing a batting practice session that I was awarded for opening a checking account at Associated Bank — ha!” Brad says. He adds, “I have a useless skill of being able to memorize movie lines and quotes. My family and I enjoy many activities and sports, as we are not fans of sitting still. That includes biking, skiing, basketball, baseball, swimming, and unfortunately, soccer.”
Ashwaubenon teller Jennifer Skenandore lives in Oneida with her husband and three kids. She previously worked in the concourse restaurants at Green Bay’s Austin Straubel International Airport. “I love to travel and collect piggy banks of all kinds — I have them all over the house,” Jenny says. “I am trying to collect one from every state, with the state name on it. My favorite one was from my husband this past Christmas — he knows how much I love Paris and ordered me the cutest little pig from France that says ‘Paris’!” •••

Deposit services rep Mila Larson and the rest of the Root River Rollers went up against the Brewcity Bruisers in a special “anti–Valentine’s Day” roller derby bout last month. That’s Mila in the “Aloha” helmet.

Stairwell Motivational Gallery
Through March 19, Corporate Office
Employee family members under the age of 17 are invited to create motivational posters that will be hung in the main stairwell at Corporate. Why? For one, it’s fun to see your kid’s artwork cheering you on, and for two, prizes are involved! Employees will be asked to walk the stairs — healthy! — on March 19 and vote for their favorite poster. The grand prize winner will be announced on March 20.
