Elise Chase shows ladies can crash demolition derbies
Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s been a slow summer for all of us — but especially slow for Elise Chase. Before social distancing became the norm, the Union Grove personal banker had hoped to drive in at least three demolition derbies this season.

“I was drawn to demo derbies because they are an adrenaline rush — but also, there are not too many female drivers that go into the shows,” she says. Though she had attended derbies and helped friends build cars, it wasn’t until last summer that she finally entered one, at Walworth County Fair in Elkhorn. “The car had to be bright pink, and it was.”

  • You can submit photos and stories about grandparents or older relatives who are alive or no longer with us, at any age.
  • One submission per employee, please.
  • Deadline is Friday, August 28, at 5pm.

Photos and text may be edited to fit our needs. We’ll share your photos and stories in Shorelines and on the bank’s social media. We’re looking forward to hearing from you! •••

New Hires for August 13
MLK Drive teller Joshua Moreno was born in Los Angeles but raised in Milwaukee. He previously worked as a server for about five years and as a bartender for about three. “I love tattoos,” he says. ” I lost count on how many I have, but it’s probably close to 40 at this point. My most painful tattoos were two portraits I got on the top of my feet — Frankenstein’s monster and his bride. They took about five hours total, and I couldn’t walk afterwards.”

Sussex teller Ashley Otzelberger is from Menomonee Falls and worked as an early childhood educator for three years before deciding to change careers after the COVID-19 pandemic began this year. “I’ve always loved doing finances and helping my family members think of ways to save money,” she says. “So after spending three months at home with my children, I decided to take the leap and get out of the teaching industry and do what I am truly passionate about.” Ashley also enjoys hiking, fishing, and painting. “I’ve actually sold several paintings over the last few years,” she says.

Kenosha South universal banker Jason Parkhurst is from Kenosha and previously worked as an assistant store manager at Batteries Plus. “I am an avid roller coaster enthusiast!” he says. “I belong to several roller coaster clubs and make amusement parks the center of vacation plans. Six Flags Great America is my home park, and Maxx Force is my favorite coaster there.” •••
