40 years in, Lauri Lunde still loves being at North Shore
District manager Lauri Lunde celebrated 40 years of working at North Shore Bank this month.

“When I started, the branches were full of customers from open to close. On Fridays, customers would be lined up out the door and in the street for the drive-up — we were open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and we’d take two lunch breaks,” she recalls. Lauri was also recognized for her service to the bank last night at our annual awards ceremony. She talked to Shorelines about how the last five years have been. Read more now!

Get spooky: Share photos of your costumes!

With trick-or-treating up in the air in some neighborhoods this year, thanks to COVID-19, it’s more important than ever that North Shore Bank’s favorite kids and adults get plenty of chances to show off their Halloween costumes. Get a photo this weekend of your family, friends, or you all dressed up, and send it to Shorelines for everybody to see.

Email photos to shorelines@northshorebank.com or text them to 608-318-3348. Include the first names of anyone in the picture, what costume they’re wearing, and the ages of any children. We’ll share them next Thursday. Happy haunting! •••

Welcome video shows off new Brookfield Capitol branch

Here’s the welcome video we’re sharing online to let everyone know about the grand opening of our new Brookfield Capitol branch. Put together by our Marketing team, PR agency Laughlin Constable, and branch employees, the 30-second spot shows manager Andrew Torke closing up the old building and opening a door into the new one, along with the convenient features of the new full-service location. “We can’t wait for you to enjoy our new look!” the video declares. It’s on YouTube and will be shared on the bank’s other social accounts as well. •••

Mindful Minute: Last week of the Gratitude Challenge!

Your Zen minute: This is something so easy and so effective. The simple act of lifting your shoulders to your ears and then letting them fall feels so good — like you are opening a door for the stress to leave.

And wow! We are at the end of the month and the end of the Gratitude Challenge. What changes are you noticing? Are you now looking at things in a more positive way? I challenge you to keep this practice going. It takes maybe five minutes out of your day, and look at all the benefits it brings you! Don’t save your gratitude list for Thanksgiving — live it every day. Here is your last set of prompts:

  • Day 19: What is a place that fills you with a sense of wonder?
  • Day 20: What prayer or wish of yours has been answered?
  • Day 21: What is the best gift you ever received?
  • Day 22: What is something you created that you are proud of?
  • Day 23: What are your favorite flavors?
  • Day 24: What is something about yourself that is pretty cool? Make this a long list, because you are pretty cool!

What did you think of this monthlong Gratitude Challenge? Did it make a difference for you? Please let us know at shorelines@northshorebank.com, and thanks again for your participation! Pat Ingelse, AVP, PMP •••

Cristo Rey High to honor students at Trailblazer event
North Shore Bank is a sponsor of Cristo Rey Jesuit High School’s “Trailblazer: A Night of Impact” fundraiser, taking place November 6. The virtual event will recognize and celebrate five years of Cristo Rey students who have forged a path for future generations to follow.

Funds raised will help students graduate and make it through college, per the event website, “allowing them to become productive and faith-filled members of society with advanced educational degrees, real-world experience, and a strong desire to use their gifts to build our community.” You can donate here. And you can read more about the bank’s relationship with Cristo Rey students here and here. •••

New Hires for October 29
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.

Traveling teller Alex Kellman is from New Berlin and is pursuing a computer science degree through UW-Madison, with one semester to go. He is also taking actuarial exams to potentially become an actuary. “I have played chess since I was in kindergarten,” he says. “I placed within the top 35 at national tournaments when I was younger and as high as third at the Wisconsin Grade Level Chess Championships when I was in grade school. Now I just play for fun, but am just as competitive!”

Treasury solutions operations manager Jeff Marsho is from Milwaukee and previously worked as a financial operations associate. He says, “I’m a longtime Jimi Hendrix fan — I tell people when I heard his music, my ears were suddenly opened and I’ve kept them open ever since. I’m too young to have had the chance to attend any of his concerts, but through doing research for three books that have been published and an international fanzine, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting several people all over the world who did see him live, got to hang out and talk with him after a show, and who own some of the gear he used onstage. So I’ve got a wealth of Jimi Hendrix knowledge and a nice collection of concert photos — some of which have not been published anywhere.”

Residential loan specialist Kaitlyn Meadows is from Pensacola, Florida, and previously worked as a mortgage support assistant at Navy Federal Credit Union. “I’ve never lived out of Florida and I’ve never seen snow, so this year will be my first real winter,” she says. She moved here in August. “My fiancé and I have a good group of friends who live here, and we came to visit and just fell in love with Wisconsin. I am loving the fall colors, but I do miss my family and my friends very, very much.” •••
