Reinhardt’s ’40 Under 40′ win laid ground for her career
Last week, the Milwaukee Business Journal caught up with VP and Municipal Retirement Plan Services manager Becky Reinhardt as part of its annual 40 Under 40 Awards coverage. Becky was a winner in 2010. The work she was doing at that time, she says, laid the foundation for her career at North Shore Bank since.
“The big reason I was nominated was the work I was doing in Shorewood,” Becky recalls. A former branch manager, she had just moved into business banking as a market manager who coordinated sales for seven branches. Read more about her story and recognition!
In celebration of April Fools’ Day, here are some jokes
Happy April Fools’ Day! As promised, here are some great — or terrible, depending on your sense of humor — jokes courtesy of your North Shore Bank colleagues. Check out the laughs now!
Get more rewards with updated referral program
Our employee referral program just got better! As of April 1, if you make a qualified referral for an open position, you’ll get a $100 gift card during your referral’s first week of employment, a cash reward of $1,000 to $2,000, and a chance at a quarterly shopping spree (valued at $500) on the Seymour Salutes website.
A “qualified referral” is a friend, acquaintance, or recruit from another business who is hired by North Shore Bank and remains continuously employed with us for at least 180 days. (Someone who stops in at a branch to ask about a job is not a qualified referral, nor is a previous or current North Shore Bank employee.) All employees except for senior executives and HR staff are eligible for employee referral rewards, with the stipulation that district, branch, and department managers are not eligible if the referral is for a role they are responsible for.
To receive a referral payment, both you and your referral must be employed on the payment disbursement date. The first half of a referral payment will be paid out after the new hires’ first 30 days, and the remaining half paid out after 180 days.
Questions? Get in touch with talent acquisition manager Janet Rosenthal at 262-797-3380 or jrosenthal@northshorebank.com. Happy referring! •••
Brookfield Capitol gets pumped for Spirit Week
The team at Brookfield Capitol channeled some March Madness energy for their Spirit Week. “We focused on our customers by providing them with great service and introducing them to services and products that would help them meet their financial goals and assist them with their everyday living,” teller Lisa Gerwitz said. “We also focused on our team spirit with daily goals and contests and a matching color of the day!” •••
Brookfield Cap, Sussex, Muskego earn praise for service
We received some comment cards complimenting the service at three North Shore Bank branches. “I always receive friendly service at the location on Capitol Drive and Sussex,” reads one. The other simply says: “Muskego branch employees are excellent.” Nice work, everybody — keep it up! •••
Everything ends — and that’s OK
Everything must come to an end, and yet endings often surprise us: a friend moves out of town, a favorite restaurant closes, someone ate the last piece of that perfectly yummy chocolate cake (not bitter about that at all…). The upside is that when we are in a less ideal situation, it too must end.
Try this meditation for one minute every day, or longer if you want to:
I ACCEPT that which remains with me and that which passes away. I give thanks for that which remains with me and that which passes away. I love that which remains with me and that which passes away.
This meditation was adapted from A Mindful Day: 365 Ways to Live Life With Peace, Clarity, and an Open Heart, by David Dillard-Wright. How did it go for you? Share your thoughts and feelings in Shorelines and you’ll be entered to win a copy of the book!
If you would like a FREE daily email reminder to do one minute of mindfulness, email us with the subject line “Mindfulness reminder.” •••

New Hires for April 1
It’s always exciting to add new members to our team. Here are some of the fresh faces at North Shore Bank.
Allouez teller Ami Erickson is from Pulaski and previously worked as an event planner at the Resch Center. “I enjoy reading anything that grabs and keeps my attention, from mysteries to autobiographies,” she says. She recently finished The Missing Wife, by Sheila O’Flanagan. “It’s about a woman who is escaping an emotionally and verbally abusive marriage, and her journey to being able to stand up for herself.”
Southwest teller Jackeline Huizar-Avila is from Milwaukee and previously worked as a phlebotomist at Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin. “I was born in California, but was brought to Milwaukee when I was about 3 or 4 months old,” she says. “That is why I am always cold in any setting — I was meant to be in the warm weather at all times!”
Residential loan specialist Jeff Marohl is from Menomonee Falls and graduated from UW-Whitewater last year with a finance degree. He also previously worked in indirect loan processing for Landmark Credit Union. “I am a big sports fan,” he says. “I follow and root for the Packers significantly more than the other teams, but I am also a Bucks, Brewers, and Marquette basketball fan. Outside of sports, I love going to Eagle River on the weekends, where my family has a place on the lake.”
Residential loan specialist Darrin Sowinski is from Milwaukee and previously worked as a mortgage loan closer for Wisconsin Title. “I enjoyed sitting at the closing tables, but I’m excited to be on the lender side learning so many new skills,” he says. Darrin is a big Brewers fan himself. “Although it is called American Family Field now, it will always be Miller Park to me. The 2011 playoff run will never be forgotten, and I can’t wait for the day when the Brewers win their first World Series!” •••
Learn how COVID-19 vaccines work and why to get one
No fooling on this topic! If you haven’t yet received your COVID-19 vaccination, the spring edition of UMR’s Healthy You magazine features a helpful article explaining why it’s wise to do so as soon as possible, as well as the differences between the Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. The short version is: “Unless you have allergies to ingredients in a specific vaccine, the best COVID-19 vaccine is probably the one you can get soonest.”
