Over 20 years, Jennifer Mooney has learned, done a lot
Getting hired by North Shore Bank 20 years ago was a bit of a surprise, says Jennifer Mooney. But it was the good kind of surprise.
At the time, she’d been the assistant branch manager at a TCF Bank location inside of a Jewel Osco supermarket for a year, after moving out of a career in retail management because the job didn’t fit her needs as a single mother. She applied for a personal banker position at our Southridge office, but didn’t think she had much of a chance.
“I had only had one year of banking experience, and being in an in-store setting, my banking product knowledge was quite limited,” Jennifer recalls, now a senior debit card/ATM processing specialist. “When offered the position, I was elated and quite nervous!” Find out what happened next!

Throwback Thursday: North Shore celebrates America
Our brand colors may be blue and green, but anybody who’s spent a summer at North Shore Bank knows we also love to rep the red, white, and blue. With the Fourth of July coming up fast, here’s a look at our participation in patriotic parades throughout our communities. Check it out!
Tell us about your first computer
What was your first computer? Long ago, we did our computing on machines with giant monochrome monitors that ran off of floppy disks and came with dot-matrix printers. And connecting to the internet — if you even had the internet — was noisy and certainly not wireless.
For an upcoming Throwback Thursday, we want to hear what you remember most about your first computer. (If you have any pictures of it, that’s a plus!) Email shorelines@northshorebank.com or text 608-318-3348 by Friday, July 15.

Corporate decorates doors for book drive
The Corporate Community Outreach Committee book drive for Next Door brought in 565 books for kids!
Floors 1, 2, and 3 at Corporate competed against Floors 4 and 5 during the week of June 19 to see who could donate the most books. The lower floors emerged victorious, winning themselves a free scoop from Board Together’s Da Udder Spot ice cream trailer on Wednesday, June 28.
To get everybody into an appropriately literary spirit, a door decorating contest saw Corporate employees dressing up doors throughout the building based on their favorite books or authors. The Auditing/BSA entrance door took first place for its Harry Potter theme, the Brookfield Square branch entrance came in second with its Very Hungry Caterpillar design, and the video tellers/Marketing door placed third with its Curious George look. Ribbons were created by senior deposit operations specialist Janet Russell out of Seymour Savings bookmarks.

Northside steps up for World Giraffe Weekend
North Shore Bank helped the Racine Zoo celebrate World Giraffe Weekend, which took place last Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25. Northside employees were there Sunday handing out swag as well as free chances to feed the giraffes. We also offered a craft for kids — making fingerprint giraffe bookmarks.
“The weather was a little hit-or-miss, but it didn’t keep happy zoo-goers from enjoying their time with our favorite animals and taking time to chat with staff,” branch manager Lisa Brooks said. Along with Lisa, lead teller Kelly Elliott, teller Lexie Lawler, and Kelly’s child Lex helped out. North Shore Bank is the main sponsor of the zoo’s Giraffe Encounter. •••
Over 250 kids show for bike race
This year’s Shorewood Criterium Cycling Classic took place Friday, June 30. As in years past, North Shore Bank sponsored the kids’ race at the 19th annual bicycling competition.
We also ran a bike decorating station for kids and had some fun items to give away. When the over 250 young racers crossed the finish line, we had Culver’s frozen custard waiting for them, too.
“I love that we can participate and do this,” Shorewood branch manager Shannon Weber said. “It is an opportunity for us to talk and interact with the community.” She noted that this year’s was the biggest turnout she’s seen for the event. •••

Westgate surprises Pizarro, Jonesy has another b-day
Employees at Westgate threw a surprise party for teller Janette Pizarro, who is set to deliver a baby boy late next month. “Janette was really surprised!” branch manager Julie Goebel said. “Everyone brought in food to share, and the branch served customers cake.”
“The baby shower was an unexpected surprise!” said Janette, who also has a 4-year-old daughter, Jenasis. “I’m so grateful to work with people so awesome and generous. The day was full of good spirits and even better food, all in celebration of my new arrival. Couldn’t ask for a better team!”
And at Corporate, deposit operations rep Debra Jones celebrated her “golden birthday” on Tuesday, June 27.
“Every year is Jonesy’s golden birthday,” Mail Services supervisor Colleen Moore explained. “She bring in treats, dresses like a queen, and then requests that everyone in her department sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her.” Besides all of that, senior deposit operations rep Janet Russell also made Jonesy’s favorite treat — banana pudding — for everyone to enjoy. •••
