COMMUNITY-MINDED

Thank you for a successful September School Supply Drive to support our local communities

Throughout the month of September, we conducted a school supply drive as part of our Bank on Kindness initiative supporting our 100th anniversary!

During the week of September 11, North Shore Bank corporate and branch employees were encouraged to bring in must-have teacher supplies to donate to local teachers and schools across the communities we serve. Each branch then selected a teacher or school to donate the collected items to.

Corporate employees also got involved and facilitated donations on each floor. Each of the five floors at North Shore Bank’s corporate headquarters in Brookfield had their own collection and selected their own teacher or school to donate the supplies to.

After the school supply drive ended, branch team members and the floor coordinators from corporate delivered the boxes of collected donations to their chosen teachers and schools during the weeks that followed.

The second floor at North Shore Bank’s corporate headquarters donated their collected items to Red Apple Elementary School in Racine. They donated a variety of school supplies from construction paper to markers, pens, and more! Red Apple Elementary made a post thanking the bank on Facebook for its generosity.

Meanwhile, the Howard Suamico branch donated their teacher supplies to Maggie Corley, a fourth grade teacher from Forest Glen Elementary School. Maggie was incredibly surprised and appreciative of the donation, especially as she is a newer teacher! Along with supplies, the Howard Suamico Branch contributed a gift card to Domino’s for Maggie’s class to have a pizza party, plus gift cards to Dunkin Donuts and Kwik Trip specifically for Maggie – helping to power her rides to and from school.

THROWBACK THURSDAY

Throwback: employee cutouts as proven means of marketing in 1991 for North Shore Bank

In 1991, a new marketing tactic was put to use by the bank; life-sized cardboard cut-outs of North Shore Bank employees roamed the aisles of Cub Foods stores across Green Bay and Appleton.

At the time, North Shore Bank branches were located in the Cub Food Stores of Green Bay West, Green Bay East and Appleton. North Shore Bank’s Kerri Collins was a manager at one of the bank branches located in Cub Foods at the time and was one of the lucky three employees selected to be the face (literally) of a new advertising campaign for North Shore Bank.

Life-size cardboard cut-outs were all the rage at the time, with the Green Bay Packers own, Brett Favre, popping up everywhere. He was soon rivaled in the Green Bay and Appleton area by Kerri and two of her colleagues at North Shore Bank.

An advertising agency worked with Kerri and her colleagues to organize a photoshoot and create three different cutouts of each person. In each cutout, Kerri and her colleagues had on different outfits and posed differently so that the cutouts could be placed throughout the Cub Foods Stores. They posed in different ways, but their hands were always placed so that they could hold a brochure or rack where promotional materials could be displayed on the cutout itself.

Overnight, Kerri became a local celebrity – with people she didn’t know giving her second looks and asking where they knew her from. Her answer? North Shore Bank and Cub Foods of course!

Some days, Kerri recalls that she would come into the Cub Foods store and her cutout would be missing. After a bit of searching, the cutouts would be found in the oddest of places – from upside down in a shopping cart to hanging out in one of the freezers, the cutouts often had to be hunted down. Mustaches were also often drawn on the cutouts – always in good fun of course!

Because the cutouts often disappeared, the bank eventually did away with them as part of their marketing repertoire. But to this day, Kerri still has her cutout downstairs in her basement, reminding her of when she was a local celebrity to all Cub Foods and North Shore Bank customers in the Green Bay and Appleton communities.

AROUND THE BANK

Union Grove Branch celebrates their colleague, Jaclyn Miller, in style

At the North Shore Bank Union Grove location, birthdays don’t go unnoticed. Lead teller, Jaclyn Miller, celebrated her 40th birthday on Thursday, October 5 and her team made sure she was feeling special all day long – despite spending the day at work.

The night before her birthday, Jackie’s colleagues, Associate Banker Staci Ryan, Personal Banker, Nicholas Ditscheit, and Branch Manager Jolene Cedeno, stayed late to decorate her desk and give her a big surprise when she came in the next morning. From bunting banners to table toppers, and even a delicious cake and small gift, they went all out to celebrate their valued co-worker of more than nine years!

“Jackie is the rock of the Union Grove Branch and we knew that she deserved to be celebrated,” said Staci Ryan.

We hope you had the most wonderful day and felt all the love from your North Shore Bank family on your 40th birthday, Jackie!

If your team does something kind for a coworker to celebrate them, please be sure to share it with us at shorelines@newaukee.com

Advocate Aurora – What I can control and what I can’t

Anxiety often occurs when we focus too much on the things we cannot control instead of putting our focus on the things we can actually change. The below diagram offers a visual representation of where we should put our focus and energy. 02398 By working hard on the areas within our control, we can learn how to let go of the things that keep us from moving forward in life.
