North Shore Bank customers & employees now eligible to access Greenlight for Banks – a family finance app

To further our mission of improving the financial literacy of all, we are excited to share that North Shore Bank has partnered with Greenlight Financial Technology, Inc. to provide all our customers and employees with free access to the Greenlight family finance app.

Greenlight for Banks is an award-winning financial app that helps banks, like us, empower the next generation to build healthy financial futures. We are excited to help our customers, our employees, and their families raise the next generation of financially-smart kids.

“We’re always looking for new ways to better serve our customers, teach money management to the next generation and offer simple tools for families, and Greenlight allows us to do just that,” said Craig Witz, vice president of retail banking.

Greenlight allows parents to automate allowances, manage chores, and send money instantly. Meanwhile, kids and teens can utilize the app to learn the importance of earning, saving, and spending their money wisely. With the built-in parental controls, Greenlight allows North Shore Bank to offer a co-branded banking experience for parents and their kids – before they graduate to the products we offer at North Shore Bank!

As we roll out this offering to our customers, we encourage you to keep Greenlight in mind for any customers with young families who may benefit from introducing a new form of financial literacy into their everyday lives.

North Shore Bank customers and employees will receive a Greenlight subscription for free when they register online at www.NorthShoreBank.com/Greenlight and add their North Shore Bank account as a funding source. Parents can add up to five kids, each with their own debit card.

5 helpful tips to remember as we wrap up Cyber Security Awareness Month

As October wraps up, so does Cyber Security Awareness Month. But your attention to being vigilant online to protect your data and the bank’s is pertinent year-round.

“In today’s world, you can’t go a day without hearing about a company or government involved in a data or system breach,” says Dana Scherff, North Shore Bank’s Information Systems vice president. “Being a bank, it is very important that our staff understands their role in protecting the bank’s systems and data.”

We encourage everyone to continue to be incredibly diligent when reviewing emails and take necessary precautions to keep your work stations secure. All employees should keep up with our cyber security education solution, KnowBe4.

Employees volunteer their time at Homeless Connect in Milwaukee

On Thursday, October 19, Community Engagement Manager Mike Williams and Personal Banker Nazirah Tate from the Milwaukee Capitol branch took time out of their day to volunteer with the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha for Homeless Connect.

Homeless Connect pairs volunteers from across the Milwaukee area with guests who are currently facing homelessness or home insecurities. Volunteers act as advocates and guides for the guests, helping them navigate through three floors of resources. Resources included everything from access to hygiene and personal care products, to clothing, salon and barbering services, legal aid, housing resources, and more.

Throughout the day, Mike and Nazirah had the privilege of spending their time with four guests who were eager to learn and explore the different resources available to them. Each of the guests shared their personal stories with Mike and Nazirah and discussed how their situations did not only impact themselves, but their children and grandchildren as well.

The biggest take away the guests shared with Mike and Nazirah was how optimistic they were and how thankful they were for the event and volunteers like Mike and Nazirah who took the time to help them.

There were an incredible amount of items donated and made available to guests who attended the event. Not only that, but the sheer amount of volunteers helping guide guests through the various resources was eye-opening for Mike and Nazirah. It was an incredible volunteer opportunity that showcased how impactful it can be when the community comes together to take care of its own people.

The Burlington branch brings back its Painted Pumpkin Contest for its second year

Things are getting festive and competitive at North Shore Bank’s Burlington branch! Last year, the team in Burlington painted pumpkins and allowed customers to vote on their favorite. The competition was so popular that they brought it back for year two!

This year, employees Jonathan White (Branch Manager), Carly Adams (Personal Banker), Emily Henry (Lead Teller), and Bryana Stagg (Associate Banker), tapped into their artistic sides and painted their very best designs on a set of pumpkins – though Jonathan may have gotten a bit of help from his children.

All customers who come into the Burlington branch are encouraged to vote for their favorite pumpkin design. The winner of the Second Annual Burlington Painted Pumpkin Contest will be crowned on Halloween! Which pumpkin has your vote?
