Southside Dining Week 2023 concluded earlier this week on Saturday, October 7th! A record breaking fifty-two restaurants participated in our third annual Dining Week, making it the largest Southside Dining Week to date!
The week kicked off with the Southside Showcase at Zócalo Food Truck Park on Saturday, September 30th. Event attendees enjoyed music and dance performances from local artists including Emmitt James, Panadanza, and Browns Crew. Plus, the Zócalo Food Truck parking lot was transformed into a vendor village, highlighting a variety of the businesses that call Milwaukee’s south side home – including North Shore Bank!
Throughout the week, the public was encouraged to visit one (or more!) of the participating Southside Dining Week restaurants to get a taste of their incredible cuisine. Each restaurant submitted an existing dish from their menu that cost $15 or less to serve as their “signature dish” for the week.If you didn’t get the chance to visit one of the restaurants during Southside Dining Week, you can check out the full list of participating restaurants and their signature dishes on SouthsideDiningWeek.com.
Southside Dining Week finished on a high note on Saturday, October 7th with Milwaukee’s first-ever Hand Pie Fest! Hosted at the brand-new Mitchell Street Arts (MiSA), ten participating Southside Dining Week restaurants shared their most delectable hand pies (think some sort of fried dough that can be held in your hands to eat) and completed to be crowned “Tastiest Hand Pie.” Ruta’s Fresh Indian Fare walked away with the coveted award thanks to their tasty naan melt!
A massive thank you to Alfredo Martin and his teams at the North Shore Bank Jackson Park and El Rey branches for their incredible support and dedication to bringing these events to life and connecting with the local community during Southside Dining Week’s main events!
It was a great event. I am glad I could stop out. Great job to everyone there!
