Some might not know that North Shore Bank used to have branches in Cub Foods, Piggly Wiggly, and Festival Foods!
Most branches that used to reside inside grocery stores are now free-standing structures close to the footprint of the grocery stores. When the last Cub grocery store closed in Wisconsin in 2012, North Shore Bank made the decision to secure leases for branches in the surrounding neighborhoods. With video teller service and lobby hours, customers still get the same extended hours they were offered at the grocery stores, plus a full variety of transactions and customer interactions.
Sharon Hack, Area Manager of the Green Bay West Branch, used to work at the Cub Foods East in Green Bay. Sharon says, “I liked working in a grocery store environment. I loved shopping after my work day.”
Although, perhaps it wasn’t all good! Sharon continues, “One time after a snow storm, I was out at the ATM balancing the machine at the Piggly Wiggly branch in Howard and a snow plow came through and blocked the ATM door. It was so heavy, I could not open the door! Eventually someone heard me screaming, and they shoveled me out.”
