North Shore Bank mortgage professionals receive Five Star recognition

A group of North Shore Bank mortgage professionals has been awarded the Five Star Mortgage Professionals designation, awarded only to the top-rated individuals in a given market. All serve the bank’s Southeast Wisconsin markets.

• AVP, Senior Mortgage Lender Steve Luebke was recognized for the 14th consecutive time.
• Mortgage Loan Officers Susan Liedel and Robin Tegel received the recognition for the second time.
• Mortgage Loan Originators Nik Sendelbach and Mary Rose each received the award for the first time.

“Securing recognition as a Five Star Mortgage Professional is a testament to the unwavering commitment these individuals exhibit towards their clients and the community each day,” said Mike Murphy, VP, Consumer Lending Manager. “Working alongside Robin, Susan, Steve, Nik, and Mary is an honor and a privilege.”

Five Star Professional conducts market-specific research throughout the U.S. to identify service professionals who demonstrate professional excellence and provide quality services to their clients. It is the largest and most widely published award program for mortgage professionals in North America.

Volunteers help the bank shine at summer events around Milwaukee

Music lover? Help out at Germantown’s Music at the Pavilion

North Shore Bank is a headlining sponsor, also known as a “concert superstar,” of Germantown’s Music at the Pavilion, kicking off June 6 at the Gehl’s Performing Arts Pavilion at Firemen’s Park, W162 N11870 Park Ave. Erica Hughes, AVP and Community Engagement Manager, is looking for four volunteers for each of the six shows. This is the first time the bank has sponsored the series.

Volunteers will wear North Shore Bank apparel and be there to engage with people in the community. The concerts draw big crowds, so it is a great opportunity to introduce new people to the North Shore Bank brand. Employees will throw T-shirts from the stage, and there will be a one-minute presentation about the bank at the beginning of each concert.

Food trucks and beer vendors open at 6, and musical entertainment performs from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a VIP area at the event as well.

Art lover? Consider volunteering for Art64 in Wauwatosa

Art64 is the Midwest’s largest head-to-head, bracket-style painting tournament, where 64 artists paint live over the course of two days. Each artist is given 60 minutes to paint a predetermined theme on canvas, and the winner takes home $20,000!

We’re looking for 8 volunteers to host in the kids and family relaxation area during the shifts listed below. You’ll interact and have fun with families as you help with lawn games, craft tables, a shade oasis, and roaming around taking Polaroid pictures. BANK ON KINDNESS

BE KIND art installation is unveiled at Pulaski branch

The Pulaski branch has a new, inspiring art installation in front, reminding all to BE KIND. The work is the result of a partnership between the bank, Pulaski Community Middle School, and Green Bay area artist Gregory Frederic.

The piece was unveiled May 15. It will be displayed at the bank through August.

This effort is part of North Shore Bank’s “Bank on Kindness^®” initiative, where the bank encourages the spread of kindness through events, activations, and installations like Pulaski’s BE KIND letters.

Bank sponsors team at wheelchair basketball tournament

North Shore Bank sponsored a team at the 2024 Unstoppable Cup 3v3 Wheelchair Basketball Tournament. This marks the first time the bank has been involved with the event.

Twenty-four teams competed; our team was one of 12 new entrants this year. Mike Cornell, VP, Senior Lender Commercial Banking, and Margaret Capper, SVP, Commercial Banking Manager, learned of the event from a client, AILCO President Derek Smith. The event raises funds to purchase sport wheelchairs and equipment for The Ability Center in Wauwatosa.

All North Shore Bank players on the court wore their green shirts, along with many employees and their family members cheering them on from the sidelines. Players with and without disabilities were welcome to play in the tournament, but everyone played from a basketball wheelchair. 02941

Employees said the environment was exciting and filled with friendly competition. Teams were organized into brackets and advanced through the tournament based on wins.

“It was incredibly challenging!” Jake said.

Tyler played wheelchair basketball once while in college, so this was his second time. The wheelchairs they used were extremely responsive, he said, “but shooting from a seated position is tougher than it looks!”

Our team placed well but unfortunately lost in a tie match broken with free throws. The team then moved into the “loser’s bracket” — but still had a blast! The team played tough, and did fantastic for a first-year effort.

Branches get into the spirit of community and culture

Community coin counting fundraiser raises $1,370 for new playground

The Oak Creek branch offered free coin counting to members of the community and the opportunity to donate some of those coins — or other funds — to the Cedar Hills Elementary PTO for the school’s new playground. North Shore Bank offered a match challenge for the first $500 donated. The community raised $871, so the bank contributed another $500, which Oak Creek Branch Manager Heather Somers presented to the PTO recently. The total donation was $1,371!

 

Deposit Services team celebrates traditional Norwegian holiday

The Deposit Services team enjoyed Norwegian rice porridge in honor of Syttende Mai (which translates to the 17th of May), Constitution Day in Norway. The day marks the anniversary of Norway’s independence in 1814.

The celebration was led by Kristin Hoch, Deposit Operations Team Lead, and Carrie Feiker, Senior Deposit Operations Specialist. Kristin is a Norwegian citizen, and Carrie is married to a Norwegian — Kristin’s brother. (Kristin’s son, Vincent, is a Debit Card/ATM Processing Specialist.)

Eating rice porridge is a tradition in the culture, so the team decided it would be fun to have everyone bring their own favorite bowl from home to share in the fun. “Everyone enjoyed the porridge and some reminisced on memories of similar tasting foods their families made,” Carrie said, adding that she’s become the designated porridge-maker for her family, even though she isn’t Norwegian.

“We are kicking off what we hope to be a year-round celebration of cultures in Deposit Services,” Kristin added.

 

Burlington branch raffles off two bikes in 54th Annual Kids Fisheree

Two lucky kids won new bikes, courtesy of North Shore Bank, at the 54th Annual Kids Fisheree Sunday at Echo Park in Burlington. The event is organized by the Burlington Conservation Club. Throughout the day, kids competed to see who could catch the biggest fish.

The bikes were the grand-prize raffle. North Shore Bank has been a part of the event for more than 20 years!

Bank launches Premier HSA account with higher interest rate

North Shore Bank has launched a new health savings account, Premier HSA. The account offers the same great benefits as the standard HSA, like a free debit card and free digital tools to manage your money, but it pays a higher interest rate. The product is available to customers and employees.

HSA accounts allow you to save tax-free funds to pay for qualified medical- and health-related expenses.

“The Premier Health Savings Account is a great addition to our existing lineup of accounts,” said Product Manager Mary Ott. “The new product provides an additional option for those with a higher balance in their HSA, offering a higher interest rate and ensuring funds are readily available for qualified medical expenses.”
