West Allis’s Candy Cane Lane is back and welcoming all who want to experience the holiday spirit. It’s free to drive through the neighborhood of more than 300 homes decorated with serious holiday lights, but visitors are encouraged to donate money to the nonprofit MACC Fund, which supports research to cure children’s cancer.
As in past years, North Shore Bank employees helped out at Candy Cane Lane. Opening night on Nov. 29 was “North Shore Bank Night” and saw about $1,500 in donations come in, Southwest Branch Manager Kevin Zsori says. “We are currently at about $10,000 after five nights,” Kevin wrote in an email on Wednesday.
Last year, Candy Cane Lane took in more than $100,000 for the second year in a row.
Candy Cane Lane will be open through Dec. 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. weekdays and from 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. You can find directions on the official website.
What a great way to kick off the Christmas season! Thanks for representing us at this great example of our community involvement in a community that really, really gets involved!
I remember driving through Candy Cane Lane as a child and really enjoying it. It’s great that we collect donations for the MACC fund and it’s a great way to get the family together for quality time. I suggest anybody with kids should check it out at least once.
What a way to start the holiday season!
Everyone was in great spirits. The joy of seeing the
families with little kids enjoying the lights!
Come out for a ride thru 12/27/13.
This is always one of my favorite places to go with my family!!!
