On St. Patrick’s Day, Corporate employees participated in a bake sale and shamrock fundraiser to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Shamrocks Against Dystrophy Campaign. The funds raised at the event support MDA’s fight against muscular dystrophy and related diseases, including its programs of research, services, advocacy, and education. Our employees raised $710!
Employees could get involved in the event in various ways. They could make a donation to the MDA, bake or cook goodies for the event, purchase baked or cooked goods, and play a raffle game with a chance of winning various Irish-themed prizes.
Amy Zignego, fundraising coordinator for the MDA in Brookfield, was on hand to join in the fun. She was truly amazed at the level of participation and the enthusiasm of the group. She was very appreciative of North Shore Bank’s participation this year. “I was really impressed at the bake sale and all the Irish flare you had!” she wrote in an email.
Amy also judged our Most Spirited Attire challenge. Congratulations to the winner of the contest: Customer Care Specialist Kathy Johnson. Kathy walked into the room all decked out in a red tartan skirt, lovely green sweater, and sparkly green fedora. She also brought along her leprechaun friend, who added to the festive atmosphere. Kathy won a $25 gift certificate from Mo’s Irish Pub in Brookfield.
Other lucky prize winners were Commercial Loan Specialist Heidi Becker, who won the grand prize of a $50 Mo’s gift certificate in the Pot o’ Gold Raffle, and Senior Commercial Loan Specialist Priscilla Hartling, who took home a $25 Mo’s gift certificate for her Irish Crème Brownie Push-Ups (the most popular baked treat). The Pot o’ Gold raffle produced many other winners, too, who took home items such as Irish Spring Soap, Guinness and Harp beer, handmade pots o’ gold, and much more!
A thank you goes out to all the bakers and cooks who donated their time and talent. A special thank you goes to Systems/Processes Support Specialist Beth Williams’s son, who teaches at a culinary school and donated delicious baked treats. And finally, thanks goes to Mo’s Irish Pub for donating the gift certificates.
Go raibh maith agat! (An Irish thank you!)
