Elmbrook Humane Society held its annual Wagfest event on Sep 12 at Mitchell Park in Brookfield, and North Shore Bank was a sponsor for the second year.
Thousands of people showed up with their dogs. Besides operating a booth, the bank also sponsored one of the three lure courses — which were the main attraction of the day! “Dogs were crying and barking, waiting for their turn to run the lure course,” reports DM Cristen Baumann. “Throughout the day, several dogs jumped the fence because they couldn’t stand the wait!”
Employees who volunteered at Wagfest include Brookfield Square Branch Manager Margie Brusa,, SVP Sue Doyle, Fox Point Universal Banker Abbey Samenfeld, Business Relationship Manager Jeremy Schmidt and his daughter Paige, and Cristen, who has been on the EBHS executive board for almost seven years.
“The dogs were hilarious!” Cristen says. “Whether they were socializing, running one of the lure courses, or enjoying their puptinis — chicken broth and cut-up hotdogs in a large plastic martini glass.”
