Community-Minded: Nancy Lepic’s therapy dog Wynne comforts those in need

After Controller Nancy Lepic and her husband, Steve, adopted a sick pup from the Wisconsin Humane Society and helped nurse her back to health, friends suggested that maybe their pet had a calling as a therapy dog, comforting people in nursing homes, hospitals, and elsewhere. “She helps folks forget their aches and pains or other troubles for at least a little while,” Nancy says. “The residents say her visits give them something to look forward to.” Find out more about Wynne’s volunteer work here.

Around the Bank

Fall fun in Sussex: Along with putting together a scarecrow (above) for the Sussex Recreation Department’s contest, our branch in the village is finding plenty of ways to stay busy this autumn. Sussex will celebrate the ninth annual Harvest Fest on Oct 17, and North Shore Bank will also help out at Spooky Sussex on Oct 23. “Hopefully, we won’t get scared away by too many goblins!” says Branch Manager Candy Walecki. Candy will also be at the last farmers’ market of the year on Oct 25. “There should be plenty of squash, pumpkins, and other late-season vegetables for sale,” she says. “Please stop by and say hello and pick up some fresh items from the local farmers.”

Zoo Boo kickoff: Green Bay West held a ticket sale kickoff event on Oct 2 for this month’s Zoo Boo at the NEW Zoo. “We had an area pumpkin carver here, doing a demonstration with power tools, free pumpkins for the first 100 people, and the NEW Zoo brought an armadillo, hedgehog, a bearded dragon, and a Madagascar hissing cockroach!” reports ABMS Hali Thompson. “We sold about 200 tickets, and everyone enjoyed the free pumpkins and the animals.”

Walk for Suicide Awareness: On Sep 12, North Shore Bank helped out at the sixth annual Taking Strides to End Suicide 5K walk in Kaukauna, put on by the Center for Suicide Awareness. Krissy Bowe, Ashley Coleman, Kerri Collins, Tricia Cravillion, Lacee Kalepp, and Patt Kox all volunteered their time at our table and participated in the walk.

Promotions: September 2015

This month, we asked employees who were promoted in September to tell us about an important lesson they’d learned, who taught it to them, and how it’s helped them. Read what they said, including Dawn Conley’s top-notch tips for calming down an upset customer.
