Help clean up Milwaukee for the Earth Day of Service
The planet needs your help! On April 23, our Shorewood and East branches are sponsoring the Urban Ecology Center’s Earth Day of Service at Riverside Park in Milwaukee. We are looking for other North Shore Bank employees, family members, and friends who can volunteer for the event. District Manager Cristen Baumann has more on how to help.
South District employees SOAR in latest survey
At the beginning of February, the South District invited internal customers to rate their level of satisfaction with the service they have received. The survey asked respondents to rate the branches in several areas based on their service experiences over the previous two months. Over 99 percent of survey respondents stated that our district usually or always followed the SOAR service standards. District Manager Brian Bozek has more about these survey results.
Hartling wins Loan Administration egg contest
Loan Administration employees took part in an Easter egg decorating contest on March 23. Senior Commercial Loan Specialist Priscilla Hartling won first place in the event, which was organized by Lending Quality Control Manager Jamie Sperk and Commercial and Consumer Closing Manager Barb Wisneski. Celebrations: Burlington’s Kasten welcomes son
Burlington Universal Banker Justin Kasten and his fiancée, Melissa, welcomed their son Rylan earlier this month. He was born weighing 8 pounds and 1 ounce, and was 21¼ inches long. Congratulations, Justin and Melissa! •••
North Shore Shape Up: A little weight loss goes a long, long way
A recent study has found that losing just 5 percent of your body weight — if you weigh 200 pounds, that’s only 10 pounds — will significantly improve your body’s response to insulin and reduce your chance of suffering from heart disease or diabetes.
Doctors point out that conventional dieting rarely works, and advise people trying to lose weight to focus on making small changes that are easier to maintain. For example, high-protein and high-fiber “whole foods” — such as unprocessed meat, eggs, nuts, and whole vegetables and fruit — tend to be more satisfying than carbohydrates like bread and rice because your body digests them more slowly. Just replacing fast food or junk food with whole foods for one meal a day will make a big difference over time. So will adding two or three light workouts to your schedule every week. Work a small, manageable change into your lifestyle, and once it’s under control, add another. •••
