Support American troops — and help break a record
160505_dar01_thumbSecondary Market Manager Roberta Woodard and the Daughters of the American Revolution need your help. DAR is a nonprofit volunteer women’s service organization that promotes historic preservation, education, and patriotism. And here’s where North Shore Bank comes in.

At DAR’s 125th Continental Congress next month in Washington, D.C., the group hopes to set the Guinness World Record for “most letters to military personnel collected in one month.” To do this, DAR members are asking family, friends, and the public to write letters of support to our service people in the armed forces. Get the details here.

Even if you leave your branch, you don’t have to leave your customers — as Evan Sell recently proved.

Evan recently became a Video Teller, after a very successful stint as a Universal Banker at our Bayshore branch. “He had 10 checking referrals in the second quarter!” notes AVP Margie Brusa, who supervises the video tellers.

“He was well liked by the customers at Bayshore, and we are thrilled to have him on our team,” Margie says. “And because Bayshore has a Video Teller Unit, Evan’s customers there are still able to receive his top-notch service — this time virtually!” •••

More than 50 people attended the “De-Cluttering Seminar” held in April at our Suamico branch — and most weren’t regular customers, reported Branch Manager Tavie Folk. “Everyone was told about our New Office Account Specials, so it was quite a success!” Tavie said. “We never imagined we would have as great a turnout as we did, so it was definitely a topic people were eager to hear about.” Marketing Coordinator Mary Ott and Mortgage Loan Originator Sherry Leanna helped out at the event. •••

North Shore Shape Up: Quick help for plantar fasciitis
This week’s wellness tip is from Cleveland Clinic Wellness:

Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of pain on the bottom of the heel, and approximately two million patients are treated for plantar fasciitis each year. The good news is, more than 80 percent of patients with the foot condition will improve within 10 months of starting simple treatment methods, like this manual plantar fasciitis stretching exercise. Here’s how to do it:

Cross your affected foot over the knee of your other leg. Grasp the toes of your foot and bring your ankle up and your toes up. Place your thumb along the plantar fascia and rub it to stretch it. The fascia should feel like a tight band along the bottom of your foot when stretched. Hold the stretch for 10 seconds. Repeat it 10 to 20 times.

Perform this exercise three times a day — in the morning before getting out of bed, and after any long periods of sitting.

Here’s to healing your heels! •••
