There’s always something to learn. Just ask Monica Fedolfi, Universal Banker at our Sturgeon Bay East and West branches, who remembers the first snowstorm during her employment at North Shore Bank. She received an automated call from our phone system informing her that her branch would be closed because of the weather. But she didn’t listen to the message and showed up for work anyway. “I assumed it was a sales call,” she says.

Monica retires from North Shore Bank tomorrow, June 10. She started with the bank in February 2011 and worked as a part-time and full-time Teller before reaching her current position.

“The highlight of my employment was becoming a Universal Banker,” she recalls. She credits her colleagues at both Sturgeon Bay branches with helping guide her through her time with the bank. “The entire staff helped me become acclimated to the customers and our way of doing business.”

Naturally, getting to know those customers was one of the most rewarding parts of the job for Monica. She calls the increasing prevalence of electronic deposits both her favorite and least favorite development in the industry. “The convenient availability of funds is amazing,” she says, “but we see fewer customers because of it.”

Monica’s plans for her post-work life are straightforward. “I will be taking a lot of trips long and short,” she says. Besides spending time with her family and helping her significant other with his business, she’ll also take some classes.

As for the people following in her footsteps who will begin new careers in banking, she offers this advice: “Pay attention, take notes — and the time really does fly!”
