Boland wins WMBA Award
VP and Mortgage Lending Manager Chris Boland was named “Best in Leadership” for the Northeast Chapter in the Wisconsin Mortgage Bankers Association’s second annual Best in Business Awards. Winners were chosen by their peers for their high quality of work.
Chris has been with North Shore Bank for over five years and tries to attend as many WMBA events as he can. Besides his involvement with and contributions of time and money to the organization, he also volunteers his time with Green Bay community and professional organizations, and in particular has helped NeighborWorks Green Bay provide education to first-time homebuyers.
Three other North Shore Bank personnel were finalists for WMBA Best in Business Awards this year: Senior Mortgage Lender Stephanie Glowinski-Moeller was nominated for Best Loan Originator (Milwaukee Chapter); Mortgage Loan Officer Rebecca Madsen for Best Loan Originator (Northeast Chapter); and Senior Mortgage Lender Linda Tait for Best Loan Originator (Milwaukee Chapter).
SVP Mike Kellman is president of the WMBA. •••
Branches host open houses celebrating honor flights
Some of our branches held events to promote Wisconsin’s honor flights, which take American veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit war memorials. Bank employees raised almost $1,000 in October to support honor flights.
At the branches, veterans sat down with traveling displays and were available to chat with employees and customers about their military service. Members of the public also came into branches to drop off American flags to be honorably retired in ceremonies this week. Grafton Branch Manager Jon Coleman reported that several customers conversed with the veterans at his branch’s open house, which was coordinated by Teller Harmony French. Some visitors to the branches also donated money to support honor flights. •••
North Shore Shape Up: Have insomnia? Try therapy
Berkeley Wellness reports:
If you frequently have insomnia, one of the best treatment options is cognitive behavioral therapy, which involves changing “maladaptive” thinking and behavior in order to promote better sleep. The effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, or CBT-I, was confirmed by two analyses last year. … Both found CBT-I to be beneficial — more so than sleeping pills because the effect persists after treatment has been completed, with none of the adverse effects of the drugs.
If you’re having trouble sleeping, consult your physician to rule out causes like sleep apnea. And ask if CBT might be helpful for you. •••
