Northland helps consumers get smart on homebuying
Our Appleton Northland branch held a Get Smart home seminar on March 14, where bank employees and a local real estate agent spoke to consumers about the differences in renting and home ownership. •••
Kudos for April 6
Katie Presser
In response to a survey question (“Is there an employee you’d like to recognize?”), a pair of customers shared this feedback about Katie Presser, now branch manager at Pulaski:
We know that Katie is no longer at our branch, but she is truly the reason that we refinanced at the location and not at the credit union. She made us feel at ease with our home equity line and the renewal of it. She answered all our questions and did several follow-ups with us to make sure every question was answered. What a wonderful, educated, friendly person.
Katie says, “Before I left the Muskego branch, I had helped these customers finish up a 10-year loan conversion to pay off debt, and referred them to investment consultant Ted Green to make sure they were on track for retirement.” When she called the customers to say that their compliment had made her day, the husband replied: “I’m glad we could make your day, because you have made our future. We were two people terrified about the future, and now we’re not, and we’re going to be able to retire in a year and a half.”
Branch administration VP Craig Witz says: “Katie’s actions were the embodiment of what we strive to accomplish with our customers — customers who are confident and knowledgeable about their future financial goals.”
Sharon Phillips
A customer left this message for call center supervisor Barb Finnegan, because he wanted to let her know about the exceptional service he’d received from customer care rep Sharon Phillips when he was having trouble accessing his online banking:
I just spent the last 15 minutes with Sharon. She was fabulous, patient, she dug into my problem, knowledgeable. She is an amazing employee, cool as a cucumber, she was an absolute dream to work with, she is just too good, and an ambassador for North Shore Bank. Never once hurried me up or treated me like an old fool. I can’t thank you enough.
Great work, North Shore Bank! •••

North Shore Shape Up: Stressed? Try vitamin C
Need a little help managing your stress level? Peel yourself an orange! Cleveland Clinic Wellness says:
When you’re stressed, your adrenal glands pump out the stress hormone cortisol, and when you stay in “red alert” mode over time, the excess cortisol can seriously damage your health. Since vitamin C helps to regulate cortisol, getting extra C may help in times of stress. Taking extra C was shown to reduce cortisol levels in animals, and in a study on women, a slow-release vitamin C supplement reduced physical and mental symptoms of stress.
For the most health benefits, the clinic recommends eating fresh produce rather than taking a supplement — and the fresher, the better. •••
