20th service anniversary: Natalie Canadeo

Deposit services manager and AVP Natalie Canadeo marked 20 years with the bank this month. Her boss, Jude Lengell, says: “It’s a pleasure working with Natalie every day. I congratulate her on her 20 years of service and wish her much continued success in her role here are NSB.” Natalie talked with Shorelines about the big anniversary.

What are you most proud of from your 20 years at North Shore Bank?
My teams. We have wonderful talent and some fantastic emerging leaders within both the Deposit Services and IRA teams. These are individuals who work together, check in on each other if help is needed, and support one another unconditionally.

I’m also very proud of my lasting relationships with the people I currently work with, and with many of the retirees. I’d be lost without their support and the many laughs they have provided me.”

What would you have done differently over the last two decades?
Not a thing. We are all exactly where we are supposed to be for optimal learning and growth.

How have you balanced work and the rest of your life?
I have the best friends in the world — and family, even better. My love of nature, animals, exercise, meditation, travel, and cooking keep me centered and balanced. My time up at the lake helps me to recharge, and regular spa treatments, for me, are essential for self-care.

Who taught you something really important, and what was it?
My dad. In times of worry or doubt, he would ask, “Did you do your best?” He would follow that by asking, “Was there anything else you could have done differently?” He had a way of grounding me by asking those simple questions, which I continue to ask myself today.

Also, I absolutely love anything by Dale Carnegie. His books are fantastic reads and very entertaining.

What are you glad you knew?
It’s simple, really: just having very basic, solid organizational skills. Have a good filing system, watch your calendar, be on time, and follow up with people.

What are some of your favorite memories from the last 20 years?
The times spent with my friends at work. There was one individual in particular who was so incredibly funny — he had us all laughing really hard daily.

Also, a highlight for me was my trip to Washington, D.C., on behalf of the Bank Secrecy Act team, in November 2015. That was truly a special time for me, and I was honored to represent the bank in an official capacity. I just so appreciated the opportunity — plus, the monuments at night in D.C. were just magic.

Congratulations Natalie! I still remember the first day you came to North Shore Bank. Joe S. was my manager at the time and he referred you to come join our team here. And here you are 20 years later. It’s always fun talking with you and finding out we had some things in common too!
