Nancy Lepic will miss us, but she’s excited to retire
After about 30 years in the banking industry, controller Nancy Lepic will retire at the end of this month — with no regrets. “I’ll miss the people I work with,” she says. “But I’m very excited, honestly, to try some new things.”

Find out what Nancy might have done if she hadn’t gone into banking, and what her plans for the future are. Read our interview with her now!

20th service anniversary: Julia Peters
When process analyst Julia Peters came to North Shore Bank in 1997, she was newly single, after 17 years trotting the globe while married to a U.S. Marine. “I responded to an ad in the Waukesha Freeman, interviewed with Jim Saladin, and was offered the job,” she recalls.

At the time, Julia says, she couldn’t have guessed it would lead to a career lasting over two decades (and big-time fun like mapping fields from one piece of software to a new one — “It was a blast, and I loved every minute of it!”). Read our interview with her here!

Northland readies for construction at summer kickoff

Kathleen, Nate, Jake, Lacee, and Katie with the party refreshments.

The Appleton Northland branch held its summer kickoff party on June 2. “It was a busy day at the branch,” branch manager Heather Starr reported. Staff helped customers prepare for impending road construction — which will make accessing the office more difficult — by bringing them up to speed on electronic banking solutions. They also served refreshments and held a contest to win a “construction survival kit.”

Employees who helped out included personal banker Lacee Kalepp, universal banker Patt Kox, teller Nate Scheuers, teller supervisor Katie Van Schyndel, and tellers Jake Sugden and Kathleen Veu. •••

North Shore Shape Up: Want to lose weight? Go to bed!
If you’re trying to shed some pounds, Cleveland Clinic Wellness has some important information from a new report: Lack of sleep makes it harder to lose weight. Specifically, the report says:

Sleep loss makes you more likely to eat large portions, choose high-calorie foods, be impulsive about your choices — and be less physically active. Neurochemistry underlies these effects: When you’re sleep deprived, hormones that induce feelings of fullness recede, while those that stimulate hunger increase.

The clinic advises that you develop a nighttime routine to help foster better slumber: “Set a regular bedtime and wake time, cut the cord (metaphorically) to your electronics an hour beforehand, and wind down with some gentle stretches or a hot bath.” Pleasant dreams! •••
