Bank sends off Bavlnka with fun celebration — and M&Ms

Training specialist Nichoma Shelton-Moss, Duane, checking services manager Erica Johnson, senior debit risk specialist Bertha Huerta, and debit risk specialist Peggy Theisen at the sendoff.

Duane Bavlnka, VP, compliance, retired Tuesday after more than 40 years with North Shore Bank. That afternoon, his colleagues celebrated his career and sent him off in style with a gathering.

The mood was cheerful and humorous, and Duane shared the three things that he’d determined needed to be true for him to stay on at North Shore Bank. He said:

  1. He must continue to learn.
  2. The bank must not do anything illegal.
  3. The bank must be ethical.

BSA/AML specialist Stephanie Hallgren presents Duane with his gift.

And so, he joked, he was finally leaving because he was done learning. He added that he was grateful for his time here and appreciated working with so many wonderful folks throughout the years. The people, he said, were what made it worthwhile.

The BSA team presented Duane with an automatic peanut M&M dispenser to mark his departure. They didn’t want him to have any trouble getting his favorite snack after retirement.
